Zen Mobile too has entered the low cost touch screen segment by launching the Zen Mobile M72 a touch and type mobile phone. If one may recall it was Micromax that made headline in September when they launched the Micromax X222 a low cost touchscreen phone and as expected many new manufacturers have already started entering this segment.

Zen M72 features (Touch and Type Phone)

While keeping the cost well below Rs. 2,200 this handset sports an alpha number keypad and a 2.4 inch touch screen (QVGA resolution) with 265K colours supported. The Zen M72 is also the first in the Zen family to come with the touch and type feature.

Another plus point about the M72 handset is the dual SIM option that can house 2 GSM SIM cards. The handset looks great and is available in dusty white and red colours. This is a low cost mobile phone and the features like 3G, GPS and EDGE are missing.

However GPRS, WAP is supported. There is a 1.3 megapixel camera with video recording; but the quality will not be impressive. This handset comes with Bluetooth for connecting bluetooth enabled headsets. From the entertainment point of view the M72 can play two commonly used audio and video formats namely MP3 and MP4. The 3.5 mm jack can be used to plugin any external headphones.

M72 Review

Touch and Type is the main highlight along with dual SIM capabilities that makes this phone even more exciting. The red colour looks cool and the price tag is even cooler. This is a low budget phone that did inherit some new features from high end phones.

This phone is targeted for low budgeted consumers, for them touch and type is something they wished for and are now getting it, they really don’t care if this phone does support 3G or EDGE etc, they are satisfied with the basic features.
