The D-Link DWR 131 3G Wi-Fi pocket router is a wireless portable device that can be used to share your 3G internet connection. The D-Link DWR 131 (150N 3.75G) router does not come with a slot for inserting the SIM card instead it houses a USB port to share internet services. Just connect your USB broadband modem CDMA EV-DO or HSPA+ and you are ready to share the connection with other Wi-Fi devices within the range.

Before you buy this router do check out if the router is compatible with your existing USB modem or if you are planning to get one. Here is the list of compatible modems that work with DWR131. (Thank you Esmail Beguwala for the list).

Today many internet users in India are going wireless and the latest trend being the USB mobile broadband device. I recently started using the Tata Photon plus mobile broadband and really happy with it. You can read the review about Tata Photon Plus. Speed is excellent and best part is no more wire related issues.

However I could not get my Linksys Wireless – G WRT54G working with the Tata Photon Plus and therefore could not share the internet connection with other devices. If you are using any USB broadband device and want to share the connection over Wi-Fi, you need a router that supports USB and is compatible with mobile networks like CDMA EV-DO/ HSPA+.
