Samsung is making home appliances smarter in 2026. The company has launched its latest Bespoke AI appliance range in India, including a refrigerator that uses Google Gemini to recognise food stored inside.

The new lineup also includes the Bespoke AI WindFree Pro AC and the Infinite 1-Way Cassette AC with WindFree Cooling.

Samsung showcased these products at its The Brief event in Gurugram. Instead of treating every appliance as a separate device, Samsung wants the refrigerator, AC, washing machine and other connected products to work together using SmartThings.

What Does Samsung AI Home Companion Mean?

Samsung calls its connected appliance ecosystem an AI Home.

The idea is simple. Rather than manually changing settings every time, compatible appliances can understand usage patterns, adjust themselves and work together through the SmartThings platform.

Samsung has built the system around four main areas: understanding the user, adapting to habits, connecting different appliances and helping with everyday tasks.

SmartThings is Samsung’s app for managing compatible smart home products from one place.

Samsung has also upgraded Bixby with Voice ID. This allows the system to recognise different family members by their voice and provide more personalised responses.

Family Hub Refrigerator Gets Google Gemini AI Vision

One of the biggest products in the new range is the Family Hub Refrigerator with AI Vision.

It comes with a large 32-inch touchscreen and uses Google Gemini to identify food placed inside the refrigerator.

Previous Samsung refrigerators could recognise only a limited number of pre-trained food items. With Gemini integration, the system can identify a wider variety of fresh food and packaged products.

Samsung has also added a feature called Video-to-Recipe, which can suggest recipes based on available ingredients.

The large display can also work as a digital family board for schedules, notes, reminders and entertainment.

Samsung has introduced a couple of features specifically useful for families.

Family Care can send alerts when expected activity is not detected. This could be useful in homes where elderly family members live alone.

Pet Care helps pet owners manage feeding schedules and reminders.

Samsung Bespoke AI WindFree Pro AC Gets Smarter

Samsung has also introduced the latest Bespoke AI WindFree Pro Air Conditioner.

Samsung’s WindFree technology has been around since 2016. Instead of blowing strong cold air directly into the room, it pushes cool air through thousands of tiny holes.

This helps maintain a comfortable temperature without constantly feeling a strong blast of cold air.

The 2026 model also comes with PM1.0 air purification. PM1.0 particles are much smaller than the PM2.5 particles commonly mentioned with air purifiers and AC filters.

Another useful addition is Home Appliance Remote Management, or HRM.

It allows technicians to remotely check certain AC problems through SmartThings. In some cases, this could help diagnose an issue before a technician visits the home.

Samsung Galaxy Watch users also get an interesting feature called Wearable Good Sleep mode.

The system uses sleep information from the watch and automatically changes the AC temperature and fan speed during the night.

Samsung has also added Triple Motion Wings, which can control the direction of airflow more precisely instead of simply cooling every part of the room in the same way.

Infinite 1-Way Cassette AC with WindFree Cooling

Samsung’s third major product is the Infinite 1-Way Cassette AC with WindFree.

Unlike a regular split AC mounted on a wall, a cassette AC is installed inside the ceiling.

This makes it suitable for larger living rooms, cafes, offices and other spaces where people want good cooling without a large indoor AC unit taking up wall space.

The AC also includes Edge Lighting with nine lighting modes, allowing it to provide ambient lighting along with cooling.

Samsung says WindFree Cooling is delivered through around 17,200 micro-holes.

The unit is only 13.8 cm deep, helping it fit into modern ceiling designs.

Samsung has used ASA material, or Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate. This material is known for retaining its colour and offering better resistance to weather-related damage than many standard plastics.

The AC also comes with an Intertek-certified antibacterial copper filter.

SmartThings connectivity allows it to use an AI Comfort Mode, which learns how the room is normally used and adjusts cooling accordingly.

How Samsung’s Four AI Features Work

Samsung is promoting its new appliance ecosystem around four main AI capabilities.

AI Understands You

The Family Hub refrigerator uses features such as AI Food Manager to monitor stored food and keep track of use-by dates.

Samsung’s Now Brief feature can also show useful information such as schedules, weather information and family updates together on the refrigerator screen.

AI Adapts to You

The WindFree Pro AC can change its operation based on usage patterns.

Features include Wearable Good Sleep mode and AI Energy Mode.

Samsung says AI Energy Mode can help reduce cooling costs by changing compressor output based on how the AC is actually being used instead of relying only on fixed settings.

AI Connects Your Home

This is where SmartThings becomes important.

Features such as Closet and Pantry Monitoring can help users track items stored around the home using compatible connected sensors.

Some Samsung refrigerators also support 2-in-1 Smart Conversion.

This allows a compartment to switch between refrigerator and freezer operation depending on what the family needs.

AI Cares for You

Samsung is also extending AI features to its washing machines.

AI Wash & Dry can automatically detect different fabric types and adjust the wash accordingly.

There is also a Pet Care Wash Cycle designed specifically for washing pet bedding and accessories separately from normal clothes.

Samsung Knox Security and Seven Years of Updates

Smart appliances constantly exchange information, so security becomes important when more devices inside the home are connected.

Samsung is using its Knox security platform to protect data moving between compatible appliances and SmartThings.

Knox is also used across Samsung smartphones and other connected devices.

Samsung has also promised up to seven years of software updates for supported SmartThings-connected appliances.

That could become important as appliances such as refrigerators and ACs are normally used for much longer than smartphones.

The Family Hub refrigerator and WindFree Pro AC are expected to be available through Samsung’s own retail channels along with major online and offline retailers.

Are Samsung’s New AI Appliances Worth Watching?

The interesting part about Samsung’s 2026 appliance range is not simply that a refrigerator or AC now has more AI features.

Samsung is trying to connect different home appliances through a common platform.

The refrigerator can manage food, the AC can react to sleep information from a Galaxy Watch, and connected washing machines can automatically select washing settings based on the clothes inside.

Software support also means these appliances could receive new features even after purchase.

The Family Hub Refrigerator, starting at ₹4,00,690, is clearly aimed at the premium end of the Indian refrigerator market.

The WindFree Pro AC, starting at ₹69,990, is priced closer to other premium split AC options and could appeal to buyers interested in smart controls, air purification and Samsung’s connected ecosystem.

Samsung’s bigger goal is clear: appliances are slowly moving from standalone machines to connected devices that can learn how a household uses them and adjust themselves over time.
