Redmi 5 has been launched in India and here is the review. This handset comes with Snapdragon 450 octa core processor and packed with 3300 mAh battery. This handset also comes with 18:9 aspect ratio screen, those who prefer smartphones with a 5 inch screen , they are going to love this handset.

So Redmi 5 is here and one might easily get confused with the other Redmi handsets also available. What makes Redmi 5 different is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, Redmi Y1 for example is Snapdragon 435, so the 450 is more powerful.

Also the Redmi 5 comes with a 18:9 aspect ratio screen. Handset is comfortable to hold and use, the size is just right for those who love 5 inch screen smartphones. Camera is average, check the camera section and as for the battery the 3300 does a pretty good job.

  1. What’s the use of Redmi 5 if by adding only 1000 Rs you get Redmi Note 5 which is much much better than this phone. Xiaomi should decrease it’s price to 6999 for 16gb and 7999 for 32 gb and 9999 for 64 gb version. Than this price will be justified.

    1. Xiaomi going to open 600 store allover india so per set 1000 rs donation by buyer enough for xiaomi opening retail store easily

  3. Ordered Asus 3 MAX 5.5 yesterday for 9k with 10% card offer from Snapdeal. Looks much better w.r.t camera and battery. I like 16:9 ratio as most of 18:9 phones are too tall. Only issue with Asus model is SD 430, but that’s ok for me.

    1. Bhai after using Redmi 5 with 18:9 aspect ratio within 20 days 16:9 aspect ratio mobiles look very awkward to me now.

Good specs man. I think you must be from another galaxy???
After having Quad sim, why are you asking for Dual 5G man??????!!
You must ask for Quad 5G Mr.alien, isn’t it??????
Oh.. Do you also have Indian currency in your planet Mr. alien!!!!?????

  6. Seems China’s Note 5 has DUAL VoLTE support but not the Indian variant!!!
I will not buy my next Xiaomi phone until unless it comes with DUAL VoLTE, min. Full HD+(preferred with dedicated navigation buttons), Dual/very good cams on both sides, with min. 4000mah battery and preferably with Type-c with fast charging support.

      1. and few mores… Triple Lens camera, AI base OS, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB Storage, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, wireless charging

        1. Wow, great Nilesh!! You want all these under 10,000, wonderful.

I think you are in a big misunderstanding!! For your info., I never compared my specs with any of Redmi or Mi series
In general, i am expecting these specifications for the phone to be launched this year and i think you are offended ???
No offence. By the by, i am also a Xiaomi fan and that’s my opinion dear. Cheers 😉

  11. Gogi can you please confirm if the side rim of the handset is of plastic and not metal …Because it is connected to the upper and bottom part of the handset which is plastic …Absence of antenna bands on the rim hints towards the plastic build …

  12. Now where are those who were complaining about the 3300 mah battery..
Actually I think nowadays its a trend to judge a phone just by its specs… But according to me the thing that matters is the real life performance.

    1. Problem today is every reviewer wants to be the first one to create video / content, and when they do not have the handset they come up with the stupid opinions, thought and what not.. Also since the are in a hurry they hardly use IQ / common sense and just go by numbers.

Battery Capacity / processor / display size + resolution / OS optimization it all ads up to give you that battery life / performance. But problem here is that phone is with 4000 mah battery, the other one is 5000 mAh battery this one is 3300 mAh so 5000 mAh wins.

      1. Correct …but not only reviewers even the people have started doing that. Go through the earlier post and you’ll see that .

    2. What you said is always true but people love to pass judgment on paper. If this attitude can be changed, a lot can change!

    3. Bought mi A1 after reviewers say real life battery is on with redmi note 4 (which ijad already ) and others seam worh buying. But i am simply annoyed by by A1 battery performance so back to note 4 give the a1 my brother, what iam saying is Battery Capacity / processor / display size + resolution / OS optimization it add up at some extent definitely a 3300mAh not give a 4000mAh run time, hence the process generation improve just litte bit for same price not good as they portrait. Still doubt just check redmi4 vs redmi 5 battery performance.

      1. Actually every reviewer that i know gave an average rating to Mi a1 battery … I can’t remember even a single reviewer praising its battery life…
And if u take a look at gogi’s redmi 4 review he has clearly mentioned a usage of 6 -10 hrs on a single charge.. but he mentioned a usage of 8-10 hrs on a single charge for redmi 5… So actually its better than redmi 4 in battery department..
And that’s only because of the processor.

we want that too be launched in India.
    .Xiaomi too biased .
instead of buying this people should better go for note 5 32gb variant or honor 9 lite.

  16. Gogi’ji, how is loudspeaker sound when you take calls through it.

Also which one would you recommend between redmi 5 vs note 5. Iam planning to buy one for my mother. Basic use like calls, video calls and whatsapp. In any case I will opt 32 GB variant.

  17. redmi 5 have better design, average camera, redmi note 5 having better camera with ugly back design, confused which one buy ?

    1. Bhai Gogiji ne confuse kar diya. SBI ka card mil gaya to redmi5 3/32 le lunga nahi to nahi lena koi bhi. Gogiji se ye umeed nahi thi. Sare redmi phones ka positive review.

Gogi bhai ab note 5 aur redmi 5 ko compare kar dijye. Dono ka 3/32 wala. Plz!

  18. So sad xiaomi doesn’t provide factory fitted screen guard. Now I will have to deal with I’ll fitting tempered glass with two annoying air pockets on the side.

  19. Why OIS(Optical Image Stabilization) or EIS(Electronic Image Stabilization) doesn’t provide for better camera performance..wating for this era..OIS or EIS in Budget smartphone!

  20. Yestetday Xiaomi released Redmi note5 for China market with much better camera than Indian Redmi note 5 pro and other features like fast charging and type C port. now Indian redmi note 5 pro version looks like a downgrade in front of China model.

    1. U cant expect them to lauch the same product as redmi note 5 in china after its launched in india. Do u think chinese would accept that? After all their origin is from china! And no one knows the actual real life camera comparison/difference between these two. Maybe indian version does better coz of imx 486 sensor? Who knows?
Note- chinese version doesn’t have type c

  21. redmi note 4 antutu 62K
    RN5 65K
    R5 69K

then give 854x480p with 272 dpi then we get 1.4M antutu

  22. Noone is talking about display ppi.. I think 5.7″ HD+ resolution < 5" HD.. I used my friend's LG Q6 is best mobile with 5.5" 18:9 with FHD+ resolution…

  23. 5.7 display is a gimmick, its better to avoid these 18.9 screen displays, they’re actually trimming down the width of the screen and adding navigation buttons into the screen, i sold my honor 9lite within 25 days for this reason, waiting for a better design phone

    1. So sad, after 2020 you will be without a smartphone cause of the Gimmick, all phones will be bezel-less with on screen buttons.

      1. You are confused between the bezel less phone and the less bezel phone, honor 9 lite is less bezel phone, they unnecessary trimmed down the screen, when you actually start using the phone, you feel like using a small phone, ideal for girls who have small hands ?

        1. Absolute right
i hate this 18:9 ratio displays
but unfortunately everyone is prepared to launch phones with this aspect ratlos.

      2. It’s a really a stupid trend. The normal 16:9 screen without on screen buttons were so easy to use. This is a bad trend.

        1. But I love these 18:9 aspect ratio . It is better for viewing videos specially Full HD or 4k videos.

    2. After couple of month’s all manufacturer uses 19:9 displays and forgot 18:9 so…..Wait,don’t run away…..Many new and good features as artificial intelligence and mix 2 like displays and 5g network are coming

      1. and wait for 25:5 ratio displays so that you can put them on your eyes
        with some jugaad attachments.

        1. Jyada bade andhbhakt ho to jakar chup chap kharid lo na, bak bak kyo kar rahe ho 25:5 kya 50:5 bhi aa jayega
