OPPO India has dropped a new brand campaign for the Reno16 Series, and this one leans hard into emotion rather than spec sheets. Fronted by actor Janhvi Kapoor, the film is built around OPPO’s long running #LiveItYourWay philosophy, timed just three days before the Reno16 Series goes official in India on July 2.

Unlike the usual countdown teasers full of camera numbers and chipset names, this campaign is a short film. It tells a story, leans on music, and uses the phone as a supporting character rather than the headline act.

What The Film Is Actually About

The campaign follows Rhea, a young aspiring musician who posts a video of herself singing online and gets hit with the kind of self doubt that comes with public judgement. A message from her father changes things. It includes an old childhood photo of her performing on stage without fear, and that memory nudges her to rediscover her confidence. She ends up preparing for a campus audition and takes the leap back into pursuing music.

It is a simple arc on paper. Self doubt to self belief. OPPO is betting that this resonates with a younger, creator-leaning audience that the Reno series has chased for years.

Adding to the mood is a reimagined version of Jugni, a song already tied to themes of freedom and self discovery in Indian pop culture. The track is woven through Rhea’s transformation, working almost like a second narrator for the film.

Where The Reno16 Series And OPPO Bubble Fit In

OPPO is positioning the Reno16 Series as the tool that enables Rhea’s creative comeback. Two features get specific attention in the film:

AI Remix Collage, which is part of the phone’s editing suite, and OPPO Bubble, the brand’s new magnetic clip-on accessory. Bubble attaches to the back of the phone and mirrors the rear camera feed on its own small AMOLED display, which is how the brand wants people to start using their main camera for selfies and group shots instead of relying on the front sensor.

There is also a quieter, arguably more relatable moment in the film involving the OPPO Enco Air5, where the earbuds help Rhea block out external noise with active noise cancellation rated at 52dB, giving her space to reconnect with her music without distraction.

It is worth being upfront here. None of this is new hardware information. OPPO has already detailed the Reno16’s HoloVerse 3D design, AI Snap Key, and camera system in earlier announcements ahead of the July 2 launch. What this campaign adds is the emotional packaging around features that were previously just listed as spec sheet bullet points.

What OPPO And Janhvi Kapoor Had To Say

Sushant Vashistha, Head of Digital Marketing at OPPO India, framed the campaign as a response to how today’s generation communicates and builds confidence through self expression, adding that the Reno16 Series was built to support that behaviour through its imaging and AI tools.

Goldee Patnaik, Head of Communications at OPPO India, pointed to the broader ecosystem play, tying the Reno16 Series and Enco Air5 together as tools meant to support a creator’s journey from inspiration to sharing.

Janhvi Kapoor, for her part, called the story personally relatable, describing her own experience of learning to trust her voice and push through external noise, both literal and otherwise.

Where You Can Watch The Campaign

OPPO has rolled out the film across its own digital platforms, cinemas, OTT placements, and out of home advertising, so visibility should be hard to miss over the next few days leading into the launch.

Should You Care About A Marketing Campaign

Fair question. Campaign films do not usually move the needle on a buying decision, and this one will not change what the Reno16 actually offers in terms of cameras, battery, or display. What it does signal is how OPPO wants to sell the phone once it is live: not purely on numbers, but as a companion for people making content, music, or simply trying to be heard.

If you are tracking the Reno16 Series purely for the hardware, the camera deep dive and design breakdown are better reads. This one is for understanding the marketing angle, and for anyone who just wants to watch a well shot short film with a Jugni remix.
