Lava Mobiles, yesterday, launched their most awaited Iris Pro series. It started with Lava iris Pro 30 model that comes powered by 1.2GHz quad core processor running Android 4.2 OS. The key highlight is the impressive looks, IPS display (Sharp Technology) and light weight at just 114 grams.

Hardware is Quad Core if you were expecting the Octa Core that will take time. Lava Iris Pro 30 is the first smartphone in the Pro series and we can expect many more handsets to be launched in the futures, probably an Octa Core too.

For now it is the Iris Pro 30 that comes with 1.2GHz MT6589 chipset with PowerVR SGX 544 MP GPU. Same hardware that powers many other handsets including the Micromax A116 and the hot selling Lava Iris 504q.

The Lava Iris pro 30 launched

Lava Iris Pro 30 comes with a 4.7 inch OGS IPS screen using the Sharp display technology combined with content adaptive back-light – that should in fact improve the battery performance in general. Screen resolution is 1280×720 pixel, full lamination touch panel and with corning gorilla glass protection.

The handset is Super Slim with a 7.5mm thickness and a thin bezel. I had a look at the lava Iris Pro 30 at the launch event and should say it felt extremely light (with battery) – its 114 grams, probably the lightest in the quad core series in India. It runs on Android 4.2 with OTA (Over the Air Update support). RAM is 1GB and internal storage is 4GB along with micro SD card support.

Art Meets Smart, Lava Iris Pro 30 does look similar to the Dream EIII handset. Pro 30 is priced at Rs. 15,999. The 1.5GHz quad core are available for a lower price than this however there are certain features on the Iris Pro that could attract users.

Review coming up as soon as I get the review unit. This handset will be available in leading stores and online within few days.
