Karbonn Smart Tab 1 which is already available in the market will not come loaded with the Jelly Bean Android 4.1 OS instead of the ICS (Android 4.0). What’s more Karbonn Mobiles have not changed the price and it is still available for Rs. 6,999.
Here is some good news for consumers who had already bought or booked the Karbonn Smart Tab 1, well they too can upgrade to Android Jelly Bean for free. Karbonn will soon roll out the update for which users might need to download files and follow installation procedure.
This tab runs on 1.2 GHz powered processor, now with Android 4.1. The capacitive touchscreen is 17.8cm or 7 inches with resolution 800×480 pixels. Memory I think is 512MB RAM with 4GB internal storage. The MIPS-Based JZ4770 is SoC used so we presume it works comfortably well with 4.1.
The camera is of better resolution at 2 megapixels. The 3700mAh battery is powerful enough to last for about 6+ hours of usage. Other features are Wi-Fi, USB port, 3D sensors for gaming, 3.5mm jack and external 3G support.
The Karbonn Smart Tab 1 did not get the response that Micromax Funbook got, especially because it came in late and was also priced a bit higher than other brands. Moreover full hardware specifications are not known. But with an upgradation to 4.1 they could probably attract many new consumers.
What’s more with Karbonn going live with Jelly Bean we might see other tablet manufacturers following the same path. With Smart Tab 1, Jelly Bean journey has begun; in coming days / weeks or months, we could see many more Karbonn smartphones / Smart Tab 4 all powered by Android 4.1.
