The Apple iPhone 4S low battery performance that many users were complaining about could be because of a software glitch related to the time zone settings. In the systems services menu there is the Setting Time zone option which always seems to be in the ‘on’ state trying to access the phone’s location and in the process draining the battery power.

The time zone function is great tool that automatically sets the time zone when you travel so you don’t need to update it manually. This service keeps track of the phone’s location. However a software glitch failed to update the location and time zone while repeatedly trying to access the phone’s location, this it seems was draining much of the battery juice.

You can expect another iOS 5 update that will have a permanent fix to this issue by for now here is a temporary fix. So how do you fix Apple iPhone 4S battery draining issue? Well according to idownloadblog switching off the Setting Time zone seems to improve the battery life.

This also means that the iPhone 4S will not automatically update the time zone but then it is a small price to pay in order to get a battery backup of more than 12 hours. There are many users who have benefited by disabling Setting Time zone. You can try and see for yourself.

There were several complains and many users were sharing their experience on Facebook and Twitter. Some even claimed that their iPhone 4S lasted for just 8 hours even when they were not using it (standby mode).

Though Apple is aware of this issue they have not publically acknowledged it. The iPhone 4S was expected to come with a better battery life that could last for up to 7 days in standby mode.  iPhone 4S is now available in 22 countries and as per reports they are also selling the unlocked version.
