At the MWC 2016 event Gionee today unveiled their new brand identity and also announced their next smartphone called the Gionee S8 that is priced at EUR 449 (approx ₹34,000). The company revealed the new Gionee logo that shows the company’s desire to create happiness.

The characters in the logo ‘i’ and ‘j’ form ‘G’ the logo basically means – ‘I am Joyful’. Along with a new identity the company announced the Gionee S8. This is a dual SIM handset with 4G+ support. The S8 handset will be running Amigo 3.2 based on Android Marshmallow 6.0.

S8 sports a 5.5 inch AMOLED screen with full HD (1080p) resolution. It is powered by MediaTek Helio P10 MT6755 octa core chipset coupled with Mali T860 GPU. There is 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage space plus micro SD support of up to 200GB.

A 16MP camera is packed on the rear with laser AF and an 8MP camera on the front. Primary camera can record FHD videos @ 30fps. Handset weight is 147 grams and thickness is 7mm. Gionee S8 gets power from a 3000 mAh battery and supports 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, FM radio, HiFi audio, DTS sound and GPS.
