Comparison: Sony Xperia Sola VS Sony Xperia U

By Gogi Rana on May 10, 2012 2 Comments

The Xperia Sola and the Xperia U from Sony mobiles will be available in the Indian markets within the next few days. Both the handsets share many common features but the Sony Xperia U is cheaper than the Sola.

Sometimes it gets very difficult to decide which handset to buy especially when there is a good price difference with few distinct features. Many consumers usually buy the product that comes with a high price tag, with an assumption that the higher the price the better the product. But in most cases they never use the extra feature that they actually paid for.

So let’s find out the difference between Sony Xperia U and the Xperia Sola, this will help you decide better.

Sony Xperia Sola VS Sony Xperia U

Both the handsets come with Scratch resistant coating and powered with Mobile Bravia Engine for extraordinary display quality. But the Sola handset comes with a slightly bigger screen at 3.7 inches.

Both Sony models come with same resolution camera and features expect for the Xperia U which comes with an additional 0.3 MP front camera that can be used for video chatting / calling.

Sola is slimmer and is lighter, well 3 grams would hardly make any difference but the slim body is definitely noticeable.

Both models come with 8 gigs internal and 512 RAM but only the Sola supports external storage cards.

Rest features are the same : 1 GHz dual core processor, Android 2.3 ( upgradable to android 4.0), Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, Micro USB, FM radio etc.

Which one should you buy?
The difference in the screen size (0.2 inch), dimension and weight  will be an important criteria for many users. Xperia U does have a dual advantage which is the low price tag and the front facing camera. The only extra feature that Sola offers is the microSD card slot.

The 8 GB internal memory is more than sufficient for many, but if you like carrying all your personal stuffs (mp3’s, movies, images etc.) that run may into many GB’s you will need the microSD support but this also means you pay higher price, get a bit bigger screen but without the front camera.

For average users the Xperia U is all that they will need and it’s cheaper.
