The CAT S60 world’s first thermal imaging smartphone will be launched in India, pretty soon. This handset is powered by Snapdragon 617 octa core processor and is a rugged smartphone – dust, drop and water proof.

CAT S60 is a very tough handset, the build quality is very good, it looks and feels tough. The S60 is dust proof, water proof and drop proof too. It will survive a drop from up to 1.8 meters (provided the screen does not takes the first direct hit). The handset is using Military grade specifications looks bulky but when you hold it, it does not feel heavy – considering the dimensions.

Exclusive CAT S60 hands-on

I got to check the CAT S60 at an event in Navi Mumbai. This handset is really unique. All the ports are sealed (usb / audio jack), making it completely water proof. In fact on the top and bottom there is a switch (Lockdown switch) – check video, you need to use the appropriate switch 5M or 2M when using at the respective depth. This handset can survive in 5M depth for up to 60 minutes. The switch actually seals the openings on the top (incall speaker) and bottom (speaker / mic) vents.

For normal mobile phone users this may not be of much use / they will find it really pricey, but for certain professionals this could really come handy.

  1. Its very useful for professionals my uncle bought thermal imaging sensor for 2L last month though that is more accurate than this but it’s good option.

  2. Out of frustration over his girl friend, one of my office colleague threw an Nokia x2-01 from 2nd floor to concrete road below, it survived and worked well with basic first aid!

  3. Thermal imaging can be used to see through hard objects such as concrete wall. It’s like x-ray machine.

  4. There are flir cams that could be attached to any normal phones using usb port available in amazon india

  5. I dont think U would review it Gogi Bhai , as it is beyond our normal budget for a mobile phone , but its always gr8 to learn something new . Anyway , I dont think it will be a gr8 seller .

    1. Why 720p? Reason: There are 365 days in a year, It is dual sim so multiply by 2. It comes to 730. Now this hand set will be availing 10 day medical leave in a year. so subtract it from 730. Now it comes to 720. Therefor it is 720p.
