Xiaomi India has officially launched the Xiaomi 17T, a co-engineered Leica flagship that packs a first-of-its-kind 5x periscope telephoto camera for the T Series, a massive 6500mAh silicon-carbon battery, and a TUV-certified eye-care display. It goes on sale June 10 via Amazon.in, mi.com, and Xiaomi retail stores.
The base 12GB + 256GB variant is priced at Rs 59,999, while the 12GB + 512GB variant comes in at Rs 64,999. An instant bank discount of Rs 5,000 brings the effective starting price down to Rs 54,999.

What’s New: The Leica 5x Periscope Is the Headline
This is the first Xiaomi T Series phone to carry a Leica 5x periscope telephoto camera, and that alone makes it stand out in this price range. The full rear camera setup is a triple system: a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide. All three cameras carry Leica tuning.
Xiaomi is also introducing two new software features. Leica Live Moment captures the moments leading up to a shot, not just the final frame. Think of it like a cinematic buffer that preserves the atmosphere around a moment, similar to Apple’s Live Photos but with Leica processing applied. Then there’s Leica Live Portrait, which adds natural depth and cinematic character to portrait shots.

For video, all rear cameras support 4K 60fps recording. The front camera handles 4K 30fps for selfies. The selfie shooter is a 32MP sensor.
Display: Big, Bright, and Certified for Eye Care
The 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel gets up to 3500 nits peak brightness, 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ support. That’s a solid spec sheet for this segment.
What sets it apart is Xiaomi’s push into eye comfort. The Xiaomi Vision Care system adapts to ambient conditions automatically and manages blue light, flicker, and visual fatigue. The phone has earned a TUV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care Certification, which is a meaningful credential for anyone who spends long hours on screen.
Battery and Charging
A 6500mAh silicon-carbon battery is one of the larger cells you’ll find at this price point. Xiaomi promises all-day endurance for heavy users, gamers, and content creators. Charging is handled by 67W HyperCharge wired fast charging.
Worth noting: there’s no wireless charging on the 17T. That’s a trade-off Xiaomi has made to keep costs in check at this price point.

Performance and Software
The Xiaomi 17T runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. AnTuTu benchmark scores are said to exceed 2.2 million. It ships with HyperOS based on Android 16, and includes Xiaomi HyperAI, Google Gemini, and Circle to Search with Google.
Design and Colours
The phone has micro-curved edges, a flat AMOLED screen, and a streamlined camera module. It is available in Violet, Blue, and Black. The Opal White variant that launched in Europe is not coming to India, at least not at launch.

Should You Buy the Xiaomi 17T?
At Rs 54,999 effective (after bank discount), the Xiaomi 17T makes a strong case for buyers who want a capable zoom camera and a large battery without crossing the Rs 60,000 mark. The Leica 5x periscope is genuinely rare at this price, and the 6500mAh cell with decent fast charging adds practical value.
The absence of wireless charging is the one concession you make here. If that is a dealbreaker, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro and vivo X200T are worth comparing. But purely on camera hardware and battery capacity, the Xiaomi 17T is hard to look past in the sub-Rs 60,000 segment.
Note: The Amazon.in product listing for the Xiaomi 17T goes live on June 10 at 12:00 PM.
