Sony India has added a brand new Sandstone colour to the WH-1000XM6 lineup, and honestly, it is one of the better-looking options in the range. A warm, neutral finish that sits somewhere between beige and off-white. Not flashy. Just quietly confident. Available from today, 4th June 2026.
The price stays fixed at Rs 39,990, same as every other colour in the XM6 family.

What Makes the WH-1000XM6 Worth This Price
Before getting into the new colour, let’s talk about what you are actually buying here. The WH-1000XM6 is Sony’s current flagship wireless headphone. Not last year’s model. Not a mid-range compromise. The top of the stack.

Sony developed these with mastering engineers at three recording studios: Sterling Sound, Battery Studios, and Coast Mastering. That collaboration shaped how the driver is tuned and how the sound is processed. You are not just getting louder audio, you are getting audio that sounds like the engineer in the studio intended it to sound.
The driver itself is custom-built. Lightweight carbon fiber dome, tight tolerances, designed to reproduce high frequencies without harshness. Every frequency comes through clean.
Noise Cancellation: Genuinely a Step Up
The HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3 is the brain behind the XM6’s ANC. Seven times faster than the QN1 chip inside the XM5. That speed matters more than it sounds. The processor is optimising 12 microphones in real time, up from 8 on the previous generation.
Twelve microphones, all placed strategically, feeding data into the QN3 constantly. The system adapts to your wearing style and your environment. Commute on a noisy train, sit in an open office, travel on a flight. The noise cancellation adjusts to what is around you rather than applying a fixed profile.
Call quality sees a serious upgrade too. Six of those 12 mics are configured into an AI beamforming array specifically for voice pickup. Even in busy environments, calls come through clearly.
360 Reality Audio and Cinema Mode
The XM6 supports 360 Reality Audio Upmix for Cinema, which takes regular stereo content and processes it into a spatial, theatre-like soundstage. Worth noting for those who use headphones for films and streaming content regularly.

LDAC support means you can stream high-resolution audio wirelessly at roughly three times the data rate of standard Bluetooth audio. Pair that with DSEE Extreme, Sony’s AI upscaling for compressed files, and even a Spotify stream sounds considerably better than it should.

Should You Buy the Sandstone?
If you have been sitting on the XM6 decision waiting for a colour that does not scream “I own expensive headphones” then this is it. Sandstone is subtle. Works with everything. Will not show every scuff the way Black does.
The headphones themselves are the best Sony has shipped in this series. The jump from XM5 to XM6 in noise cancellation performance is real, not just marketing. The 12-mic array and the QN3 chip together produce noticeably better ANC, especially on mid-range frequencies where the XM5 left some room. Call quality is another area where the upgrade shows.
At Rs 39,990, the XM6 sits at the top of the premium over-ear segment in India. Bose QC Ultra is the only real alternative worth comparing. Both are excellent. The Sony wins on sound customisation and app depth. The Bose wins on comfort for very long sessions.
