There are reports about two Vivo V5 smartphones exploding while charging. There have been two incidents reported one was in Karnal and one was in a mobile shop when the phone was kept for charging.

Smartphone battery is the most dangerous part and one needs to keep check of symptoms like un-natural heating (when Idle) cause when there is a issue with the battery specially a defect, or a puncture the most likely outcome is an explosion.

Well not just one but two incidents happened with the Vivo V5 handset.ย  Two Vivo V5 handsets at different location met the same fate, both exploded while charging.

What causes battery to explode?

Two reasons heat or physical damage. Since both these handsets exploded when charging the likely reason could be the charging circuit for some issues the battery keeps on heating and fails to cool down.

The other reason is the physical damage to the battery, that can happen when you drop the handset it can cause a tear or puncture and if the battery structure is compromised a short circuit can happen within it and eventually heat and explode.

Well so far two Vivo V5 have reportedly exploded and there is no response as such from Vivo, we will get back once we hear from them, I guess they will give official statement after investigation.

Update : There was an incident that happened with V5 few months back it seems one of the image was re-circulated again. This is an isolated incident every brand has gone through. Some people are overrating to this as if that is the end, if you search on the net for any brand and add explosion word to it e.g. Redmi explosion, apple explosion, you will find some news on that. It happens, and is very rare but should not happen on a larger scale. I am not supporting Vivo, but think logically.

  1. Hi guys, I want to buy a phone that is under 20,000rs. and has smooth processor and can support high end games. Please suggest.

    1. There are several options available, you can also check out Lava z25 or Vivo V5. These phones come with good processor.

      1. Hi Sekhar, if you go through both these phones you will find both provide same featues but in less price Lava z25 gives you superb gaming experience.

          1. Oh ya! I have been using it for past 3 weeks and my son plays so many games, just can’t get over. Games run very smooth also doesn’t hang at all.

  2. gogi jee i lokesh from chennai .i am in a great confusion whether to buy vivo v5
after this incident ,is it true or fake.and also pls suggest me what phone can i buy in my choice coolpad cool 1 or redmi note 4 or vivo v5. my wish is the phone should not get battery drained quickly ,not get heated up ,while chatiing or gaming. and also its service centre is must.plus the phone should not get hang up while gaming or downloading. if u have some other phones in ur mind suggest me. thank u so much

          1. No it doesnt hang up but heating issue is there. I don’t know how to come up. Gogi ji, can you guide….

          2. Up to 50 degrees it is normal, when playing games temp increases, if it increases with apps that you recently installed then remove that app as that might be cause the issue. But as long as battery temp is below 50 degrees for heavy usage it is normal.

          3. gogi jee i saw comments on cool1 some where saying that only 1.5 gb ram can be used out of 4 gb ram ,balance is used only by the system, is it true .

          4. 1.5GB ram free is very good. In earlier phones only 300mb used to be free. In 2GB phones only a few had 600mb free. But they work well. If you install more apps you might get even less free ram. But a starting point of 1.5GB is really good IMO. Then our Gogi Guru has to confirm this

          5. Does not really matter, you see if you have coding knowledge there is a thing called cache, to speed up process / overall performance at times a section of memory is allocated that makes use of such techniques. It really does not matter what the free RAM is, system is smart enough to adjust as per the need.

        1. Price is high, otherwise if you are buying from offline market it is best option as after sales is very good.

          1. sir but in show room they are saying that since vivo v5 has two OS sot hey will not easily hang up is it true they will not easily get hanged

  3. There is also type of current used for charging. Power banks, non digital invertor and ups.

  4. Anybody who inspect closely can see that its a dummy phone. No prize for guessing who is behind. Opposing companies.

  5. Gogi brother ,, I want to ask you battery related question, I’m using OnePlus 3 ,, i always charge when battery reaches below 5% , is it good or not ,

    1. That’s good, it will help increase battery overall life (battery for you will last for many years).

      1. Thank you brother ,, yeah I’m getting good battery life , however I’m using redmi 1s which I bought in first sale ,, still I’m getting more then 3 hours of Sot ..

    2. it is not good to wait till battery reaches 5 percent. you should not allow it drop below 20percent.

    3. battery should be charged when it falls below 30% and should not go below 10% frequently.

  6. Oh my God, My Coolpad Cool 1 heatsup a lot while charging and I get it charged overnight and plugged off in the morning only… GOGI ji, Is this wrong practice as I learned that this doesn’t cause any danger……

    1. See when you charge handset it will heatup, hence it is advised not to use the phone when charging specially not using heavy apps like playing games. If you charge your handset and after charging the charging cuts off, means when handset is fully charged, the charging is cut off keep the charging on and touch phone see if it heats up or is cool. If it is cool it means after full charge the charging is stopped. If this is case then no issue keeping it for overnight charge.

But anyway I never recommend keeping handset for full night charge. Better charge it when you are nearby and alert / use power bank.

  7. Gogi bhai ye post dal kar abto Vivo ko kachra kehne walo ko aapne mauqa v de diya.

    1. They need reason anyway, but point here too is that this is an isolated incidents not happening in majority of the phones sold. If these people react such a way to a small incident they should not be using any phones cause every brand has gone though such issue. If it happens in large scale then that is a different case so far if you recall only Note 7 had the issue in large scale. Phone exploding in most cases is related to how the customer was using the phone cause if there was an issue then it should have happened on most phones.

    2. Sahi gogi bhai. Agar samsung ki tarah phatne lage tab keh sakte hai ki koi problem hai

    1. There could be many reasons, investigation is needed. If you damage the port when plugging in the power cord (happens on micro USB port) then that is also a reason.

  8. See this is indeed a ‘kachra’ mobile, when exposes to high heat the kachra caught fire. Cause the chipset is kachra, the battery is kachra, the manufacturing process is kachra. 2 minutes silence for those who did too much ‘kharcha’ to buy this ‘kachra’

      1. Redmi Note 3, and to all those saying all that BS, if you really support vivo and its prices, then amuse youself cause there is no point in arguing with you.

        1. Ah search Redmi Note 3 explode on google you will find incidence of that too, just making my point on the though that you said “exposes to high heat the kachra caught fire”. Now you change topic, came back to price.. Price is high, agree, amuse youself.

        2. @ abhishek is I think the short guy from gadgetstouse.com who doesn’t have sense .Still acts like kiddo.Bhai kachra phone nahi tere dimag pe kachra bhara huwa hai.Samsung note 7 bhi brust huwa tha to kya WO bhi kachara phone aur company kachra hai ?kya ehi knowledge he tera gadgets ke bare mai.Vivo ka agar free mai 10 mobile mil jaye to uske atche review dal dega na?.. So funny guy ha ha ha..

      2. @chandra, you know today negative news drives you more traffic. Most guys are just overreacting, they are doing reviews based on options not even using the phone. See how they are reacting now as if no other smartphone brand every exploded.

How intelligent people see it โ€“ 2 vivo phones exploded? need to wait for reports, happens, happened on other brands not a big issue.

How people who think Vivo is Kachra see it โ€“ Samsung Galaxy Note 7 exploded!, there is explosion everywhere…

        1. There is a reson why vivo and oppo spends millions in advertisement, to sale their sub par devices to people who don’t know anything about mobile tech but are more in love with their bollywood actors. A smart buyer would never buy this for 17k, there are far too many better options available.

      1. He is not answering which handset he is using, may be searching for a brand that never exploded.

        1. Why are you getting offended like Vivo is your personal company? He can say whatever he wants. It’s his opinion, learn to respect opinions instead of acting like immature kids.

        2. @Raghav, forget about me tell me why you are getting offended when I am asking a simple logical question. Let me offend you again – which handset are you using did that brand every explode?

        3. I don’t use Vivo for sure. No, I didn’t get offended. I can see you getting offended again. Most of the phone brands that I have used haven’t exploded except Samsung.

        4. @RAGHAV Most of the phone brands that I have used havenโ€™t exploded except Samsung. You did not name the handset you are using and you used most of the phones so don’t just give me 1 name. Check mate…

        5. @NEEL What do you actually want to prove? Lol
BTW I use Sony XA Ultra and Nubia Z9 Mini.

        6. @ raghav
Sony brand also exploded search google – sony handset exploded
Nubia I guess not much using, new.
          That’s my point.

        7. @NEEL that doesn’t change the fact that two same models of Vivo phones exploded while charging? Why is that? Now I have even warned my mom not to go near phone while charging as I had got her V3 few months back.

        8. @raghav
so you were careful with SONY also cause that also exploded, no issue with Nubia though unless it explodes.

        9. I am using Moto G5 Plus before that Samsung S7 edge it broke fell from pocket when I was on bike.

    1. @ abhishek if u don’t know about mobile or any other gadget manufacturing and its other aspects than try not to abuse them..Make a phone in market and try to sell than u will understand..And regarding mobile battery brust do remember if you forgot Sammy note 7 and some refrigerator also brust in past times..So check you statement before posting in any blog..

      1. Vivo Fan boys who bought a mobile having just 720p ordinary HD resolution, below average mediatek MTK6750, 32GB ROM 4GB RAM for 17k and could not be smart enough to see that there are better choices available like RN4, CP C1, Honor 6x, Moto G5, etc etc, you have no right to ask anybody about how tech literate he is. Live in your happy bubble until it literaly explodes.

    2. Plz stop posting such kachra comments. Anybody who inspect closely can see that its a dummy phone.

  9. Too much constant charging or high voltage while charging creats heat and the explosions of any device including mobile phones. Sometime the battery swallows. That’s why battery techno needs really attention..

      1. Sir, my xolo q1010 exploded on 20 April 2017. The interesting thing was that it was not charging. It was just on the shelf.

  10. People better stop buying Vivo. They were good before but not now. They even had the thinnest phone in the world a few years back and now their phones suck. They are overpriced and only concentrate on Selfie phones.

  11. There is no incident of explosion in redmi mobile I think. So redmi mobiles are better.

    1. You are 100% right when I searched redmi phone explodes on google I got no results, oh..hold on my net is stuck…

    1. to add with this they will give some super extra margin to local stores to get rid of this phone rather than fixing it…kudos vivo

  12. Now vivo owners do not expect vivo to recall their faulty phones like Samsung did with note 7.

      1. Dekha !!
Maine pahale hi bola tha … VIVO apne aap ko Samsung k equal samajhti hai !!!

        1. I think u dont know about the Samsung Note 7…………..
All samsung phones face battery issue, hang like hell…….

      2. It is a general practice with reputed companies to conduct charging test under severe conditions to see whether the battery withstands the harsh test conditions or not. Those conditions are definitely harsher than the normal charging conditions. I wonder how Samsung batteries passed such tests and failed in the field.

        1. If you have checked Samsung statement after the incidents they have added couple of more test to detect the kind of problem Note 7 faced.
