A television that spans nearly 9.5 feet diagonally is not something most living rooms can casually accommodate, yet Sony India has just built one anyway. The company has added a 115-inch (292 cm) model to its BRAVIA 9II lineup, and with this single launch, Sony now sells the largest True RGB television it has ever offered in the country.

This is not a random size bump either. With the 115-inch variant joining the range, Sony’s True RGB BRAVIA portfolio now runs from 55 inches all the way up to 115 inches, giving buyers the same core picture technology no matter which screen size fits their wall.

What Makes a TV “True RGB”

Before getting into specs, it helps to understand the phrase Sony keeps repeating: True RGB. Most premium LED TVs today use white LED backlights filtered through colour layers to produce an image. Sony’s True RGB approach skips that filtering step entirely. Each LED cluster behind the panel can independently push out red, green, or blue light, giving the processor tighter control over exactly what reaches the screen.

The result, according to Sony, is the widest colour volume the company has ever achieved on a home television, along with richer contrast, smoother gradation between shades, and colours that hold up from steep viewing angles. This is powered by Sony’s proprietary RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro, the backlight engine sitting at the heart of every True RGB BRAVIA set.

Three more technologies round out the picture package. X-Wide Angle Pro keeps colours consistent even when you are watching from the side of the room rather than dead centre. Luminance Booster Pro pushes brightness higher without letting colours wash out. Smooth Colour Gradation works to eliminate the visible banding that sometimes shows up in skies, sunsets, or dark scenes.

One feature is worth flagging for buyers eyeing the 115-inch model specifically: Immersive Black Screen Pro, a glare-reducing screen treatment that deepens black levels, is available on the smaller BRAVIA 9II sizes but not on the 115-inch panel.

A Cinema-Sized Sound System to Match

A screen this large needed audio that could keep pace, and Sony has built the 115-inch BRAVIA 9II around Acoustic Multi-Audio+, a 12-speaker arrangement made up of two subwoofers, eight full-range speakers, and two tweeters. The idea is to push sound from multiple points around the frame rather than a single soundbar-style strip, which should help dialogue stay clear even during busy action scenes.

Software-wise, the TV runs on Google TV, bringing together streaming apps, live content, and games in one interface. Sony has also confirmed that Gemini for Google TV will arrive later through an over-the-air update, which should bring more natural, conversational voice interactions to the platform once it rolls out.

The Face Behind the Launch

Sony’s “Cinema is Coming Home” campaign continues to be fronted by filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, who has represented the BRAVIA brand in India since 2024. Announcing the 115-inch model, Sony India Managing Director Sunil Nayyar said the launch reflects the company’s push to bring authentic cinematic experiences across every screen size, while Sony Corporation’s Nezu Daisuke pointed to the pairing of True RGB technology with the BRAVIA XR Processor as the key to reproducing a filmmaker’s original intent at home.
