Panasonic launches the P51 smartphone for Rs. 26900

As expected, Panasonic has launched their first smartphone called the Panasonic P51, in India for a price tag of Rs. 26,900. This handset sails on the Jelly Bean OS and is powered by a quad core processor.

You will realize that there is nothing new in the P51 once you go through the specifications. The Panasonic P51 is 8.5 mm thick and weight is 135 grams. Its dual SIM with dual standby and sports a 5 inch screen with 1280x720p resolution.

The screen comes with Asahi Dragon trail glass that provides a decent level of protection. On the hardware side it’s the same MediaTek quad core processor clocked at 1.2GHz with PowerVR SGX GPU. The handset comes with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage.

There is an 8MP AF camera with LED flash that can record videos in full HD (1080p) resolution. A front camera is also present with a 1.3MP resolution. The P51 supports 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, micro USB and 3.5mm jack. The 2500 mAh battery provides a decent talktime backup of up to 14 hours.

Panasonic will launch this handset within few days for a price of Rs. 26,900. The price does seem too high considering the specifications and even the free accessories like the stylus (probably capacitive pen) and a flip cover will not make it that lucrative.
