OnePlus launched the 5T and those who recently bought the OnePlus 5 will not be happy cause the price of OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5 is the same, starts from Rs. 32,999. But what is the major difference among the 5T and 5 and is it worth the upgrade?

If you have just bought the OnePlus 5 stick with the 5, an upgrade will turn out to be costly, better use your new OnePlus 5 for few months, sell off and get the 5T or better still wait for the next OnePlus.

For those wanting to know what is different on the OnePlus 5T compared to the OnePlus 5, this article will help you. I just checked the price of OnePlus 5 it starts from Rs. 32,999 and now the 5T is here that will go on sale from 21st November for the same price. Probably we might see the price of OP5 dropping down after few days.

OnePlus 5T Vs OnePlus 5

Now most of the specifications are the same, I will just list out what is common on the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T.

Both are powered by Snapdragon 835 octa core, packed with 6GB/8GB and 64GB/128GB RAM / ROM options. 4G, VoLTE, NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are supported. Oxygen OS based on Nougat runs out of the box. Anodized Aluminum body, 3300 mAh non-removable battery with Dash Charge support.

OnePlus 5 vs OnePlus 5T

Screen

OnePlus 5 : 5.5 inch, 1080p – 1920 x 1080 pixels (401 ppi), 16:9 Aspect Ratio, Optic AMOLED, 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protected. Display features – Reading mode, lift up display, night mode and ambient display.

OnePlus 5T : 6.01 inches, 1080p – 2160 x 1080 pixels (401 ppi), 18:9 aspect ratio, Optic AMOLED, 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protected. Display features same as OP5 plus sunlight display.

Camera

Though the camera resolution is the same the company has changed the camera technology on the OnePlus 5T and claim that is better than the OnePlus 5.

OnePlus 5 : Dual Rear Cameras – 16MP Wide Angle, SONY IMX 398, f/1.7 aperture + 20MP TelePhoto, SONY IMX 350, f/2.6 aperture. Front camera is 16MP using SONY IMX 371 sensor with f/2.0 aperture.

OnePlus 5T : Dual Rear Cameras – 16MP, SONY IMX 398, f/1.7 aperture + 20MP SONY IMX 376K, f/1.7 aperture. Front camera is 16MP using IMX 371 sensor with f/2.0 aperture.

As you can see the 20MP camera on the OnePlus 5T has changed and both dual cameras are now with f/1.7 aperture this will help get better shots in portrait mode where both cameras are used.

Other

On the OnePlus 5T finger print sensor is moved on the back, plus you get on screen navigation buttons. 5T also comes with face unlock that is pretty fast.

I have not got the review unit, looks like it will be late. Anyway there should not be any difference in performance, the difference if any should be minimal. What is interesting is to check the camera quality on the OnePlus 5T.
