Rear Mini Screen Makes the Phone Different

One of the most interesting features of the Lava Virat Curve 5G is its small display located next to the rear cameras.

Instead of waking the main screen every time, users can quickly check useful information from the back.

The mini screen can display the clock, battery percentage, notifications, charging status and volume level. Users can also customise it with text and emojis.

A second display is still quite unusual on smartphones around ₹20,000, so it gives the Virat Curve 5G something different from most phones in this price range.

Lava has not yet explained exactly which apps will support notifications on the rear screen, so its full usefulness should become clearer once the phone reaches users.

6.67-inch Curved AMOLED Display

The front features a 6.67-inch FHD+ 3D curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Full HD+ resolution is 2400 x 1080 pixels, while the 120Hz refresh rate helps animations and scrolling feel smoother.

Peak brightness is rated at 1100 nits, which should help with outdoor visibility.

The display also supports 10-bit colour and can reproduce around 1.07 billion colours, helping photos, videos and gradients look smoother.

Lava has also included 1920Hz PWM dimming. AMOLED displays often control brightness by rapidly switching pixels on and off. A higher PWM frequency can make this flickering less noticeable, particularly when using the phone at lower brightness levels.

Those looking at similar options can also browse curved display phones under ₹20,000.

MediaTek Dimensity 7100 Performance

Powering the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 7100, manufactured using a 6nm process. It is an octa-core processor running at up to 2.4GHz.

Lava claims the phone can score more than 800,000 points on AnTuTu. This is a company-provided benchmark number, so real-world testing will give a better idea about sustained performance, gaming and heating.

The phone gets 6GB LPDDR5 RAM along with up to 6GB virtual RAM.

Virtual RAM uses some internal storage as additional memory. It can help with keeping more apps in the background, though it is not as fast as physical RAM.

Storage is limited to 128GB at launch.

What Is Vayu AI?

The Virat Curve 5G also comes with Vayu AI, Lava’s AI platform.

Lava describes it as a more natural and practical AI experience designed to make everyday smartphone features easier to use.

The company says a future software update will further improve Vayu AI. That update is also expected to introduce Lava’s new user interface and a native Gallery application.

6000mAh Battery With 45W Charging

Battery capacity is another strong point.

The phone packs a 6000mAh battery, with Lava claiming up to 55 hours of talk time, around 11 hours of continuous YouTube playback and as much as 720 hours of standby time.

These are Lava’s claimed figures, so actual battery life will depend on usage, network conditions, brightness and other factors.

The phone supports 45W fast charging, but there is an interesting catch. Lava provides a 33W charger inside the box.

That means the phone itself can accept faster charging, but the bundled adapter does not use its full 45W capability.

Those looking for an additional charger can check 45W USB-C fast chargers. Make sure the charger supports the charging standard required by the phone before buying.

50MP Sony IMX752 Rear Camera

For photography, the Lava Virat Curve 5G uses a 50MP Sony IMX752 main camera with EIS.

EIS stands for Electronic Image Stabilisation. It uses software processing to reduce shake while shooting videos, which can help when recording handheld footage.

The camera can record videos at up to 2K resolution.

Available camera modes include Night Mode, Pro Video, Dual-View Video, Motion Photo and Sports Mode.

Sports Mode is designed for moving subjects, while Night Mode is meant to improve photos in low-light conditions.

The front gets a 13MP selfie camera with screen flash for selfies and video calls in darker surroundings.

Vegan Leather Design and 184g Weight

The Lava Virat Curve 5G uses a vegan leather finish on the back, giving the phone a softer and more textured feel compared to regular plastic or glass.

Despite having a 6000mAh battery, the phone weighs 184 grams.

Its curved screen also helps give the device a slimmer appearance from the sides.

IronGuard Protection, MIL-STD-810H and IP64

Lava calls the phone’s durability package IronGuard Protection.

The front uses Al-Si DT Star 2 cover glass, and the device also carries MIL-STD-810H certification.

MIL-STD-810H is a US military testing standard covering different environmental conditions such as shock, vibration and temperature changes.

There is also an IP64 rating.

This means the phone offers protection against dust and splashes of water. However, IP64 does not mean the phone can safely be submerged underwater.

Android 16 With No Ads or Bloatware

The Lava Virat Curve 5G runs Android 16.

According to Lava, the software comes without unwanted bloatware or advertisements.

The company is promising 2 years of Android OS upgrades along with 3 years of security updates.

Other features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, face unlock, dual stereo speakers and dual-mic noise cancellation.

There is also an IR blaster, allowing the phone to work like a remote control for compatible TVs, ACs and other appliances when used with a suitable app.

Lava Free Service @ Home and Warranty

Lava is also offering its Free Service @ Home facility with the Virat Curve 5G.

Under this service, customers can request a technician visit at their doorstep in supported locations across India.

Lava is providing a one-year replacement warranty on the handset, while accessories are covered for six months.

Lava Virat Curve 5G vs Lava Virat V1 Pro 5G

The Virat Curve 5G sits above the Virat V1 Pro 5G in Lava’s current Virat lineup.

The V1 Pro 5G was listed for ₹15,999 and launched at an effective ₹13,999 with offers.

Here is how the two phones compare.

For the extra money, the Virat Curve 5G brings a curved AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity processor, faster charging, rear mini display and higher-resolution selfie camera.

Both models still offer a 6000mAh battery and the same 6GB + 128GB memory configuration.

Lava Virat Curve 5G: What Makes It Interesting?

At an effective price of ₹19,999, the Lava Virat Curve 5G packs quite a few interesting features.

The combination of a 3D curved AMOLED display, rear mini screen, 6000mAh battery, vegan leather finish, MediaTek Dimensity 7100 and clean Android 16 helps it stand out in the crowded sub-₹20,000 market.

The rear display is easily its most unusual feature. Whether it becomes genuinely useful or remains more of a design feature will depend on how well notifications and apps work with it.

Also worth noting is the charging setup. The phone supports 45W charging, but buyers only get a 33W charger in the box.

Claims such as the 800,000+ AnTuTu score and battery endurance figures come from Lava, so independent testing will give a clearer picture of real-world performance.

The first sale begins on September 28 at 7 PM, and buyers can check the Flipkart page for final pricing, bank offers and availability.
