Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has unveiled its much-anticipated 2025 CB650R and CBR650R models. These middle-weight 650cc motorcycles are the first in India to feature Honda’s cutting-edge E-Clutch technology. Bookings have officially begun across all BigWing dealerships, with deliveries expected to start by the last week of May 2025. The CB650R is priced at Rs. 9.60 lakh, while the sportier CBR650R is available at Rs. 10.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Mr. Tsutsumu Otani, Managing Director, President & CEO of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, expressed his enthusiasm during the launch, stating, “We are delighted to introduce the latest additions to our premium motorcycle lineup—the CB650R and CBR650R—now equipped with Honda’s revolutionary E-Clutch technology. These models are designed to redefine performance and riding experience in the premium segment.”

What Makes the E-Clutch Technology Revolutionary?

Introduced globally by Honda Motor Company in November 2023, the E-Clutch technology is a game-changer. It allows riders to shift gears smoothly without the need for manually operating the clutch lever. The system automatically engages and disengages the clutch during gear transitions, offering a more seamless and fatigue-free riding experience. This technology is aimed at enhancing both relaxed city cruising and spirited highway riding.

The 2025 Honda CB650R and CBR650R are the first motorcycles in India to incorporate this advanced feature, setting a new standard for middle-weight performance bikes. The E-Clutch system significantly reduces hand fatigue, making it ideal for long rides and urban commutes alike.

2025 Honda CB650R – Minimalist Perfection

The CB650R is a true representation of Honda’s Neo Sports Café design language. Its minimalist and muscular appearance is complemented by modern features. Highlights include:

  • Round All-LED Headlamp for enhanced visibility
  • Sculpted Fuel Tank and Exposed Steel Frame for a rugged look
  • Available in Candy Chromosphere Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic

Powertrain and Performance

At its heart, the CB650R is powered by a 649cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine. It delivers an impressive 70 kW (93.8 PS) of power at 12,000 RPM and 63 Nm of torque at 9,500 RPM. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, enhanced by the new E-Clutch technology.

Chassis and Braking

The CB650R features a high-spec Showa 41 mm Separate Function Fork Big Piston (SFF-BP) for superior handling. The rear sports a Monoshock with adjustable preload, ensuring smooth rides across varying terrains. Braking is handled by dual 310 mm floating discs at the front and a 240 mm single disc at the rear, both equipped with dual-channel ABS for optimal safety.

Tech and Connectivity

The motorcycle also boasts a 5.0-inch full-colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity via the Honda RoadSync app, allowing access to calls, messages, and navigation through Bluetooth.

2025 Honda CBR650R – What R You Today?

For those who crave a racetrack-inspired aesthetic, the CBR650R delivers with its sharp lines, aerodynamic fairing, and aggressive stance. Available in Grand Prix Red and Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic, the CBR650R is built to turn heads.

Engine and Technology

Sharing the same 649cc inline four-cylinder engine as the CB650R, the CBR650R also benefits from Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), providing enhanced stability during spirited riding. The six-speed gearbox is paired with the revolutionary E-Clutch technology for seamless shifting.

Advanced Suspension and Braking

The CBR650R is equipped with Showa’s 41 mm SFF-BP front forks and a rear adjustable Monoshock. Braking is robust with dual 310 mm radial-mounted front discs and a 240 mm rear disc, all managed by dual-channel ABS.

Smart Display and Connectivity

Like its sibling, the CBR650R features a 5.0-inch full-colour TFT display that supports Honda RoadSync for smart connectivity.
