Elephone has now launched a small portable camera called Elephone Explorer that looks like the GoPro and it can shoot 4K videos. This mini camera is priced at $69.99 for limited period only and later on it will be priced at $89.99.

The Elephone Explorer weight with battery is 58 grams. This compact camera sports a 2 inch screen with 320 x 240 pixels resolution. It can record videos in 4K (3840 x 2160p) resolution at 15fps, 2.7K videos (1520p) at 30fps, FHD at 30/60 fps and 720p at 30/60/120 fps.

The camera can also shoot still images in 16, 14, 12, 10, 8 and 5 megapixel resolution. There is a micro USB port, micro HDMI port and a micro SD card slot that supports up to 64GB external cards. Camera supports wide angle (170 degrees) and using the OV4689 BSI CMOS sensor.

This device is powered by Allwinner V3 CPU (ARM cortex A7). The explorer gets power from a 900 mAh Li-ion battery. You can record 1080p videos continuously for almost 2 hours on a full battery charge. There is built in WiFi and an app that can be used to preview / control the DV camera.

  1. Apparently they are waterproof as well! Gogi, is there an option of transferring images via WiFi to other devices/storage units attached to a router? Would be useful in that case.

    1. Camera itself is not waterproof but there is a waterproof case you need to put the camera in.
