Celkon A101 a 4 inch dual core smartphone for Rs. 6999

The Celkon A101 is priced at Rs. 6,999 and comes with 4 inch screen with dual core processing power. The price tag is close to that of the Celkon A62, but as compared with A62 that supports only the 2G network, the A101 handset does support 3G.

The A101 sports a 4.0 inch screen with 800×480 pixels resolution. There are dual cameras, a 5 MP AF rear with LED flash and VGA front FF camera. The handset runs on the ICS OS with 512MB RAM. The internal storage space is similar to as found on the A62 handset i.e. 512MB internal storage. Micro SD card is supported.

The Celkon A101 supports 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, micro USB, GPS and 3.5mm jack. The handset will house the MediaTek dual core chipset and for the price it looks like a good option at least better than the A62 with minimal price difference, though you might want to confirm the sensors on A101.

This handset gets power from a 1400 mAh battery. It will be available for Rs. 6,999.

Gogi ji, is there any news about a 4 core handset price at 7000? I read it on mobileindian. This is the news I read “For instance, Chinese vendors like UMI, Zopo , Gionee are offering quad core phones for as low as Rs 7,000 while comparable handsets from Indian vendors arepriced at Rs 9,999 onwards, the best example of the same is the Karbonn Titananium S1 .”

Gogi, i want to get something straight, its about the performance difference between dual core cortex a9 and quad core cortex a7. Some reports say the cortex a9 cores are more powerful than cortex a7 cores, the quad core cortex a7 not being a true quad core and its just a co-processor, where as when i see benchmarks of quad core cortex a7 powered phones ( gionee dream d1 or mmx a116) , the scores in antutu, quadrant and linpack are twice than dual core cortex a9 ( such as mmx a90s or a110), scores even being close to quad core cortex a9 phones, so which is actually better – dual core cortex a9 or quad core cortex a7?
