The offer started on October 8, 2026, and even family connections get their own free roaming benefit. Here is the full plan comparison, how the pack works and the conditions you should check before travelling.

What Airtel Offers With Free International Roaming

Airtel has added a complimentary five-day roaming pack to its new postpaid lineup. You can claim the benefit once every 12 months for each eligible SIM. It works in more than 180 supported international destinations, making it useful for short holidays and work trips.

You get about 1GB a day if you spread the 5GB allowance evenly. That should help with maps, cab bookings, messaging and emails, although video calls and streaming may use it quickly. Free incoming SMS is also useful for bank OTPs and travel updates.

Airtel Postpaid Plans List and Monthly Prices

All six plans listed below include unlimited domestic data and calling, network-level spam and fraud protection and one free international roaming trip per eligible SIM each year. Subscription bundles depend on your monthly rental.

Airtel Family Postpaid Plans: Separate Roaming for Every SIM

The free trip is not one shared pack for the whole family. Every eligible family member can claim their own five-day roaming benefit. For example, a four-SIM ₹1,249 family plan can provide four separate trips in a 12-month period. Members can use them on different travel dates.

What Happens on a Seven-Day or Longer Trip?

The free benefit lasts only five continuous days. For a seven-day holiday, you can cover five days with it and arrange another option for the remaining two. Airtel says standard international roaming charges can apply after the pack expires, so do not assume it stays free.

You can choose a separate paid roaming pack or a travel eSIM for extra data. We have also covered Air India EasyRoam eSIM plans as another way to stay connected overseas.

How to Claim and Activate the Airtel Free Roaming Pack

The most important step is to claim the benefit through the Rewards & OTTs section of the Airtel app. You also need to meet Airtel’s 90-day postpaid eligibility requirement. New postpaid users and people switching from prepaid or another operator generally become eligible after completing 90 days on postpaid.

Your current connectionWhat to do
Existing Airtel postpaid, older planMove to an eligible new postpaid plan in the Airtel app or Airtel Store; the required postpaid tenure must be met
Airtel prepaidSwitch to an eligible postpaid plan and complete 90 days on postpaid

Once claimed, the roaming allowance activates when your phone first connects to an eligible overseas partner network, not simply when you submit the claim. It then runs for five continuous days. Airtel sends confirmation messages and lets you follow the benefit in its app.

Important Conditions Before Using the Free Trip

  • You can claim the complimentary roaming benefit only once every 12 months while on an eligible Airtel postpaid plan.
  • The benefit applies to individual and eligible family add-on connections separately, and cannot be transferred between numbers.
  • The 5GB data, 60 call minutes and 25 outgoing SMS expire after the five-day validity. Unused allowances do not carry forward.
  • You must remain on Airtel postpaid for at least 90 days after using the free benefit. Leaving earlier can trigger an exit charge of ₹2,000 plus GST (₹2,360), per connection that used the benefit.
  • After the five days end, standard roaming charges may apply. Check or buy another pack to avoid unexpected charges.

Airtel also offers Fast Lane technology for eligible postpaid 5G users, which aims to provide a more consistent experience on crowded networks. Read our Airtel Priority Postpaid review for a closer look.

Other Airtel Postpaid Benefits

  • Unlimited domestic data and calls on the new plans
  • Network-level spam call and fraudulent-link protection
  • OTT and cloud storage subscriptions depending on the plan
  • Airtel Postpaid Advantage Club experiences, including events, concerts and movie premieres
