It seems Airtel is blocking SMS’s send by reliance Jio. If you are using Airtel as your primary number and have applied for Reliance Jio, you might never get any SMS’s sent by Relaince Jio on your Airtel number and neither will you get any OTP SMSs sent by Jio.

Generating JIO Welcome code
When I tried creating the bar-code to get the free reliance JIO SIM with welcome offer, and when I entered the Airtel number and hit generate OTP code. The OTP code was sent but I never received the code, I cross checked the number and then tapped re-send the OTP code, tried that many time but never got the OTP code. To generate the bar-code you need the OTP code.
The next thing I did was change the Airtel number to another number – it was also an Airtel number and unfortunately I did not get the code on that Airtel number too. Finally I tried on my Vodafone number and it worked – I got the code within seconds.
After getting the code I visited the Reliance Xpress mini store and used the eKYC, I used my Airtel number there, I guess I will not get any SMS’s from reliance but hopefully the SIM will get activated today itself.
Some users have confirmed that they filled the eKYC, did not get any confirmation SMS’s on their Airtel number but the reliance SIM got activated within few hours.
I think Airtel is deliberately blocking Reliance SMSs not sure about phone calls.

Update: Airtel will now provide more Point of Interconnect to Jio, this step should improve connectivity between Airtel and Jio.
