Umi a known brand in China will soon start selling their low cost Umi X1 dual core and Umi X2 quad core handsets in India. These handsets are expected to hit the markets this February.
The Umi X2 quad core details are not known and as for the Umi X1 it’s the MTK6577 dual core processor with PowerVR Ultra SGX 531 GPU. The handset supports 3G and runs on the Jelly Bean OS with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage.
The display screen is 4.5 inches with AGC Tempered Glass with resolution of 1280×720 pixels with 16M colours (326 PPI). Like the other MediaTek handsets this one too comes with 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a better front camera of 2MP resolution.
Umi X1 is a dual SIM handset with Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, Micro USB and 3.5mm jack. There is another handset available called the Wammy Sensation handset with the same 1280×720 pixel resolution. The price details are not known yet. Karbonn S1 Titanium – a quad core handset is selling for under Rs. 11,000 so it will be interesting to see if the new brands can come with competitive pricing or unique features.

We should wait for service support to open up 7 then go 4 these new entrants. Both umi x1 & jiayu g3 , launched last year had teething problems & there is no gurantee that it wont happen again with x2 and g4. Besides they should come along with retail purchase and COD also.

Don’t get excited as yet, the Site seems to be fake, The number is inactive, the emails aren’t answered. Moreover i heard that the X2 has few problem for which the Developers r fixing & most likely will be released only End of Mar or April….
I suggest not to preorder from the Umimobile.in site unless some confirms that these guys actually exist…

UMI have updated the price for the Flagship device @ 14k from earlier announced 20k. So much of hype of comments on their FB page forced them to rethink about the pricing for India market.
They have also stated that after so much of hype, they discussed with you and then updated the final price for India market. Is it true? If it’s true, then you deserve three cheers.

Even though it’s priced at 14k, I think before prebooking we should force these Chinese brands for COD. Also, actual shipping dates will be interesting. If the shipping is starting after 15th, there is no point in running after this. Because, other giants like GIONEE (seems more trustworthy), GIAYU, IOCEAN will come up with their prices. Also, CANVAS HD will be perhaps there in retail stores. So we can get many options and their prices.
Still better to wait for a week atleast….

Thanks Deepak, well the price I suggested for a little more but they ultimately came down further. Now a tough choice to make between A116 and X2 well all to the after sales support.

Sometimes I feel the price of Umi x2 to be rumors ……to hold back the sells of other indian brands like Micromax,karbon,spice,etc….especially of A116…!Because It is hard to believe it would be priced this much low looking at its specs….! On android sale…it is showing well above 25000 if calculated in Indian rupees though status is out of stock now…!

I wish to buy umi x1 from India umimobiles.in only take pre order at 10499 but from aliexpress it is available to ship at 185 usd ( ~10300 rupees) but will they ship real phone or do they provide shipping to India for free?
