Here is the review of the much awaited Spice Mi-355 that has finally reached the Indian markets, available online for a price tag of Rs. 6,599. This is dual SIM 800 MHz powered smartphone with a 480×320 pixels resolution.
The Spice Mi-355 (Stellar Craze) currently runs on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and is upgradable to ICS or Android 4.0. However we do not know when Spice will come out with the official update. The Mi-355 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 (single core) processor clocked at 800MHz with Adreno 200 GPU.
If you look at the specifications its sounds similar to the Karbonn A7, but the design / look is different. You can see the four dedicated buttons which presumably are made with ICS OS in mind. The capacitive touchscreen display is similar to Karbonn A7 at 3.5 inches with 262K colours over a 480×320 pixels resolution.
The Spice Mi-355 is 11.5mm thin and currently available in white colour. It can accommodate two GSM SIM cards (Dual SIM) with dual Standby option. 3G is supported only via SIM slot 1 (UMTS 2100) similar to as seen on Karbonn A7.
There are dual cameras a front VGA (0.3MP) and a rear 5 megapixel camera with dual LED – it is not clear if the camera is of fixed focus, but I assume it will be of a fixed focus just like on the A7. The built in memory for apps storage is around 200MB of which 140MB is available for user.
Spice Mi-355 comes with 512MB ROM and 512MB RAM with external storage support via microSD card up to 32GB. This phone supports 3G up to 7.2Mbps (HSDPA), EDGE / GPRS (Class 12) and tethering supported via built in Wi-Fi and USB.
Other features are Bluetooth, GPS (A-GPS), multi format media player, YouTube and Google Play supported. The battery again is of similar capacity as on Karbonn A7 i.e. 1420mAh with standby time of about 8 days and talktime of about 4 hours.

I did not find anything different when comparing the Mi-355 with the Karbonn A7. However the Mi-355 does have some advantages. The first being the price which is at Rs. 6,599 cheaper than A7 and the second the OS (Android 2.3) which is upgradable to ICS.

I bought dis mobile in sep 2012 frm saholic for 6300 and imvery much satisfied .I have play temple run 1 and 2,subway surfer,nfs shift,backflip,run like hell n many more without any lags.Just one issue dis phone had 0nly 200 mb intrnl mem hence i cudnt install many games n apps ‘gogi sir can u help .me in rooting dis phone so tht i can install link2sd for installing apps directly on sd card.

Hey Gogi in spice mi355 there is a problem in display of mobile there is blueish colour in display all time thats true or not i mean display of this mobile normal with other hand sets like galaxy, Ninja 4 or handsets pls tell its possible to control adjust blueish colour in mobile through setting tell me full detail of mobile colour and resolution.
Aditya, it seems the production of Mi-355 has stopped so its not easily available. As for the blueish tint I don’t think its much of an issue, cause the themes that the handset uses (even the karbonn A7 and A7+) are in blue.

Ya its right I bought it for rs.6599.. don’t know the actual reason for discontinuing it but the mobile is nice but better to have an extra battery if you use wifi it give backup only upto 4 hrs and cam is really worst it is not even like 2MP samsung cam..

Vivek, may be they might have discontinued the product. In that case try the Karbonn A7+.

Hi remove the battery and see. Other option for hard reset is press the volume down + power button and then release the power button when the phone starts but keep pressing the volume down button. This method may not work but try it. Other option is to take it to the service center.
Please read this before you buy, I bought this spice mi355 its design is awesome, but always hangs whenever I call, very very slow ,keeps on hanging all the time, and there no solution for that, keep 2 mobiles in your pocket mind it!

Madan I am definitely sure you have installed a very heavy application that is eating your ram, uninstall it, then it will work fine.

Dheeraj, in that case don’t’ go with Aurus, with 512MB RAM handset will be smoother and stable.

Dheeraj, Idea aurus seems good just check if the memory is 512MB cause the Mi-355 and A7+ have 512MB memory. Other option is A7+. G-sensors are the same just referred to in different ways.

I don’t think Unicode is supported. I have seen unicode support on android 4.0 (ICS). I think spice is giving the ICS update for 355 model, when they do go and update it. You can also try http://www.gogi.in/hindi-keyboard-android.html the app will show if your device is unicode supported or not.
Gogi for ics update on service center, is it we will have to pay for it or it’s free?
If your phone is still under warranty, it will be free. Also Spice has not mentioned anything about the price so no doubt it is free. If the center guys are charging call Spice support and let them know.

Customer are buying this smartphone as they buy fruits or vegetable. That is why shortage occur and I have heard that the company will provide new stock with Android ICS that’s why stock are coming late, I still cannot confirm this.
Hey gogi i have heard that for spice mi-355 ics update has been rolled out, you can get ics update by going in service center and new devices will come with ics update that why it is not available in market. What you say ?
