Using Gmail on your Android mobile phone can get really annoying especially when you keep getting email every few minutes. Your Android phone will automatically synchronise with your Gmail account and will notify you when there is a new email.
One way of solving this issue is to go manual. Disable the auto sync and refresh the Google mail app whenever you want it synchronised. The other option is to disable the notification so your gmail account is still checked periodically and synchronized with the latest email ready to be read, except that you will not get any notifications.
How to disabled email notification on your Android phone
- In the menu option look for Google Mail and tap it.
- This will launch the Google Mail app on your Android phone now press the dedicated menu button on your handset to get the options.
- Tap settings.
- Find the Notification Settings – Email Notification with the text “Notify in status bar when email arrives”. Uncheck it. This will disable the status bar notification whenever a new mail arrives.
- On newer version on android where multiple gmail accounts are supported the process is the same except you will need to select the account that you want to modify.
