The XOLO Q2500 is a 1.3GHz quad core powered handset (Phablet) with a big IPS screen of 6 inches supporting resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The handset is pretty slim and comes with non-removable 3000 mAh battery. It is priced at under Rs. 14,000.

Box pack
Inside the box you will find the XOLO Q2500, a free flip cover – good quality made of artificial leather, screen guard, warranty / user guide, travel charger, OTG cable and data cable.

Design and Display
The Q2500 is big, yet it looks quite attractive, that is because of the slim design. The weight with battery is 210 grams and dimensions are 82.70mm x 168 x 8.80mm. The build quality and finishing is very good; it does give the premium feel and will definitely grab attention. The back cover is black color with matte finish.

The free flip cover on the other hand adds more glamor to it yet maintaining the figure. Micro USB port and 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the top, volume rockers on the left and power button on the right.

Inside the Hood
The Q2500 houses MediaTek’s MTK 6582 quad core processor clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with Mali 400 GPU clocked at 500Mhz. The handset runs on Android 4.2 and entitled for the Android 4.4 KitKat update.

Performance and Benchmark
The phablet worked lag free, performance is good and benchmark score are pretty good. Though there was some issue with buttons becoming unresponsive when playing games probably because of some issue with the single dedicated button / on screen buttons.

Benchmark scores

  • Quadrant Standard – 6918.
  • AnTuTu – 17252.
  • Vellamo – HTML5 1958, Metal 553.
  • Nenamark 2 – 54.6fps
  • Multi touch : 5 points.

Camera and Entertainment
There rear camera is of 8MP resolution with BSI sensor and front camera is 2MP resolution. Rear camera is with dual LED flash. The camera quality is good and it can record 1080p videos at 30fps. The video quality is also pretty good, however the long shots (in video) are not that sharp.

The Q2500 can play full HD videos and can also record full HD videos at 29fps.

Gaming
Modern Combat 4 and Asphalt 8 games got installed on the external storage. Game play is smooth, however at times the on screen buttons became unresponsive. The issue is probably cause by the single dedicated touch button. If the button becomes unresponsive especially when playing games, just tap the dedicated button and the gaming button will become responsive again. Hopefully XOLO will fix the issue with the next OS update.

Others
OTA (Over the Air) updates are supported. Sound is loud and clear. 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS worked well.

3000 mAh Battery
There is built in 3000 mAh battery. The company claims a talk time of up to 15 hours on 3G and 40 hours on 2G networks. I used the handset for about 29 minutes running benchmark apps and playing the MC4 / Asphalt 8 for few minutes. The battery dropped by 8 percent. You can use heavy applications / play games for almost 4 to 6 hours continuously on a full battery charge.
