The 5.2 inch smartphone, Xperia Z2 with a quad core processor is all set to make its way into the Indian markets. Sony will be officially launching the Sony Xperia Z2 in India on 8th May 2014.

The Z2 could be priced under Rs. 55K. Hardware specifications are quite impressive. The Z2 sports a 5.2 inch screen with Triluminous display supporting 1920 x 1080p resolution. This handset runs on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS with a good 3GB RAM, 16GB storage and also comes with micro SD card slot that will support additional (external) storage space of up to 64GB.

The Z2 is IP58/55 certified that makes it water resistant (submerged in 1.5m fresh water for max 30 minutes) and dust proof. It uses the 801 Qualcomm Snapdragon (MSM8974AB) processor (quad core) clocked at 2.3GHz coupled with Adreno 330 GPU. As for the cameras there is a 20.7MP AF camera on the rear with LED flash and 2.2MP on the front.

Sony Xperia Z2 in India

The rear camera can shoot 2160p (4K) videos @ 30fps and the front camera can shoot FHD videos. The handset supports 4G and other common features are 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC and Bluetooth. The Xperia Z2 comes with non-removable battery of 3200 mAh (Li-ion) with up to 19 hours talk time.

Pre-bookings in the UK started off with a price of approx Rs. 56K, so let’s wait and watch for the official launch in India.
