Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ got a new update that enabled dual VoLTE support. In this video I have explained what Dual VoLTE is and what happens when dual VoLTE is not enabled.

I also updated the handset my Samsung Galaxy S9+, the latest software update now enabled Dual VoLTE and VoWiFi (Voice over Wi-Fi). If you haven’t checked the Galaxy S9+ review check here.

The update size if 426MB. If you are using the Samsung Galaxy S9 or the S9+ you might have got the update notification. Update the handset and after that dual VoLTE will be enabled.

Samsung Galaxy S9 / S9+ in India is using Exynos octa core processor and it did not have dual VoLTE support until now, latest update adds the support.

Without Dual VoLTE support on Samsung Galaxy S9+ I was not able to use JIO SIM when I enabled data on my airtel SIM, since after enabling data on airtel SIM slot the JIO SIM slot will become 3G/2G and since JIO needs 4G the SIM will not work.

But with this Samsung Galaxy S9+ dual VoLTE support I am now able to use both SIM together, in fact you can use 2 JIO SIMs together. Now both SIM 1 and SIM 2 slot support 4G together.

  1. Is S9+ support Vodafone VOLTE ? I am not getting VOLTE in S9 + same as working in OnePlus 5.

  3. Can we expect this update for the other samsung S8, A5 & A7 2017 models. Any prior information Gogi Sir!

    1. Really doubt, Dual VoLTE depends on hardware too, if the hardware is capable they will enable it via OTA update. But the S9+ is using the latest exynos so it had.

    1. Nope Snapdragon 625 doesn’t supports DUAL VoLTE so it can’t be enabled on redmi note 4

  4. High end SD 845 and Kirin 970 appear to have Dual volte, Dual Active, by using Two Radio receivers, while middle tier SD 636, mediatek P60, samsung’s Exynos appear to use single radio receivers, deploying Dual Volte, Dual Standby using time sharing algorithms, by software. Anyhow, dual standby is enough for me, price wise!

    1. Dont agree with you Helo p23 and all the above like p60 support dual voltie it

  7. Does dual Volte means Dual Active also? For e.g if you are using Internet of Jio and receive call on second sim which is say Vodafone(which also supports Volte), will the second SIM get disconnected or remain connected? If Internet stays connected then if you receive call on the other SIM, will you get call waiting or like current Dual Standby phones where the user gets not reachable tone?

      1. Dual Active needs two 4G modules to work separately, makes no sense as it will increase the size / weight of handset.

  8. Is it true that from July onwards all operators had to switch to Volte as per dot regulations,if so than what will happen to phones which support only one sim slot for 4g and Volte
