Design, Display and OS
The Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro is using combination of metal and glass. There is metal frame sandwiched between glass layers. It’s using a 2.5D curved glass on the top as well as bottom given a symmetrical look. It is not clearly mentioned if the glass comes with protection but it looks like scratch resistant to some extent (tried the pin scratch test).
The handset looks big and is heavy. Weight with non-removable battery is 209 grams and thickness is 80.9 x 161.7 x 7.9 (mm). There is no LED notification. This handset is packed with accelerometer, light, proximity, hall and magnetic sensors.
It’s a dual SIM handset you can use two nano SIM and a micro SD card (separate micro SD card slot). A9 Pro supports 4G with VoLTE. There are dual Mics.
A9 Pro sports a 6 inch screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution – Full HD. And it’s a super AMOLED screen – viewing angles, color reproduction and touch response are excellent.

There is 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. On the first boot you will get around 17GB space. Plus users can use micro SD card of up to 256GB. OTG is supported, you can connect external pen-drive.
Galaxy A9 Pro houses the qualcomm snapdragon 652 octa core processor clocked at 1.8GHz with Adreno 510 GPU. Performance was smooth and handset did not heat up, max battery temperature I encountered was 33 degrees.
Some benchmark apps will show the snapdragon 652 as snapdragon 650.

I played two heavy games and both the games did well – Asphalt 8 in high quality mode and Modern Combat 5 – gameplay was smooth and lag free.
There is 16MP AF camera on the back with LED flash support and front camera can shoot in 8MP resolution. The handset can record videos in 1080p resolution. Hardware is quite powerful it can play 4K videos and can record 4K videos, however the default camera app gives option up to 1080p.
Camera quality is above average, do check the sample images and videos at the end of this review.
Sound is loud and clear. Handset supports 4G with VoLTE – Jio SIM worked. I did not find any issues with WiFi, NFC, GPS and Bluetooth. Signal strength and quality was pretty good.
The home button on the front doubles up as finger print sensor. You need to press the button to switch on the screen and just hold to unlock when using FP security.
Key highlight on the Galaxy A9 Pro is the 5000 mAh battery with fast charging support. Battery does an impressive job you can expect 6 to 11 hours of non-stop moderate to heavy usage. With mixed usage you will get up to 2 days of battery life, for heavy usage up to 24 hours.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro no doubt is a very powerful, classy looking and loaded handset. Battery life is awesome, though the handset is a bit heavy. If you are brand conscious this is a very good option but A9 Pro does come for a premium price of Rs. 32,490.
