Let us be honest right from the start when we first looked at the Samsung Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37, we had to double-check if we were actually looking at new phones… or just last year’s models wearing a slightly different outfit. And honestly, that pretty much sums up the entire experience.
This isn’t a disaster. But it’s also not exciting. It’s that awkward middle ground where everything works, but nothing makes us say “wow.”

A Design That Time Forgot (Or Just Reused)
We saw the renders and now the design on the samsung official India site, compared them side by side, and the realization hit us like déjà vu this looks exactly like the previous generation.
The Galaxy A57 is described as “slimmer, sleeker and more awesome than ever” But here’s the thing “slimmer and sleeker” has become the default excuse for doing absolutely nothing new.
The same camera layout. The same glossy back. The same “ambient island” design philosophy.
And the Galaxy A37? Same story. A “refined look” with a glossy finish which is basically Samsung saying, “We polished it a bit, hope you don’t notice.”
At this point, we are convinced Samsung has a “copy-paste” shortcut assigned to the A-series design team.
Performance Upgrades That Feel Like Software Updates
Now let us talk about the so-called “upgrades.” The Galaxy A57 brings a new chipset he Exynos 1680 and yes, on paper, it’s faster. But in real-world expectations?
We are talking about incremental gains, not transformative performance. Samsung itself highlights “up to 15% improved CPU and GPU performance”

Fifteen percent. That’s not a leap. That’s a polite step forward.
The Galaxy A37 follows the same philosophy with slightly improved processing and thermals , which sounds great… until we realize it’s just enough to keep things running smoothly not to push boundaries.
It’s like upgrading from “good” to “slightly better good.”
The Curious Case of the 6-Year Software Promise
Here’s where things get interesting and ironically, where Samsung shines the most. Both devices promise up to 6 generations of Android OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates
And we admit that’s genuinely impressive. But also… slightly ironic.
Because while the software will evolve for six years, the hardware already feels like it’s stuck in the past.
It’s like buying a house that gets renovated every year but the foundation never changes.
Camera: Same Hardware, Smarter Marketing
Samsung calls it “Awesome Camera” and technically, yes, it’s good.
- 50MP main sensor
- Ultra-wide + macro setup
- Improved Nightography
- AI-based scene optimization
All present. All functional. All… familiar.

The Galaxy A57 emphasizes enhanced low-light photography and faster image processing
The Galaxy A37 echoes the same with Nightography and HDR selfies. But here’s our problem this isn’t a camera upgrade, it’s a camera refinement.
The hardware hasn’t taken a leap. The magic is mostly happening in software.
So yes, your photos will look better… but not dramatically different.
Display: Big, Bright… and Expected
Samsung continues to dominate in displays, and both phones carry:
- Super AMOLED panels
- Around 6.7-inch size
- FHD+ resolution
- Vision Booster enhancements
And honestly, this is one area where we have zero complaints. But at the same time this is exactly what we expected.
No higher resolution jump. No revolutionary refresh rate upgrade. No breakthrough panel tech.
Just… consistency.
Which, again, sounds good until we realize consistency is being mistaken for innovation.
Battery Life: Reliable but Unambitious
Both devices pack a 5000mAh battery, promising up to 2 days of usage
And yes, that’s great. But in 2026, when brands are pushing 7000mAh batteries, ultra-fast charging, and silicon-carbon tech… this feels safe.
Too safe.
Samsung isn’t trying to win the battery race. They’re just trying not to lose it.
AI Features: The Buzzword That Saves the Day
Samsung introduces features like:
- Object Eraser
- Best Face
- Edit Suggestions
- AI scene recognition
And while these sound impressive, they’re not groundbreaking anymore.
Every brand is doing AI. Every phone edits photos intelligently. Every device promises “smarter experiences.”
So when Samsung says “Awesome Intelligence” , we can’t help but think it’s just catching up, not leading.
IP68 and Build Quality: Premium Where It Matters
One thing we genuinely appreciate is the inclusion of IP68 water and dust resistance on the A57.
That’s a flagship-level feature trickling down and it deserves credit.
The build feels premium. The finish looks polished. The durability is reassuring.
But again this feels like checkbox innovation. Not bold. Not new. Just necessary.
Pricing: Premium Mid-Range or Confused Flagship?
Let us talk numbers.
- Galaxy A57 starts around ₹62,999
- Galaxy A37 starts around ₹53,999
And this is where things get… uncomfortable.
Because at these prices, we start asking:
- Why not consider a flagship killer?
- Why not go for a discounted premium flagship?
- Why settle for “safe” when you can get “exciting”?
Samsung is positioning these as premium mid-range devices. But the pricing is slowly creeping into flagship territory without flagship innovation.
The Real Problem: Nothing Feels New
After going through everything design, performance, camera, battery we kept asking ourselves one question:
What’s actually new here?
And the answer kept coming back… not much.
Yes, things are better. Yes, things are refined. Yes, things are polished.
But nothing feels fresh.
Thoughts: Safe, Reliable… and Slightly Boring
The Samsung Galaxy A57 and A37 are not bad phones.
In fact, they are:
- Reliable
- Well-built
- Long-lasting
- Feature-rich
But they also represent something bigger a shift where innovation has taken a backseat to iteration.
These phones don’t fail. They just don’t excite. And maybe that’s the real story here.
Because in a market full of bold designs, crazy batteries, and aggressive innovation… playing safe might just be the biggest risk of all.
