Finally it is confirmed – it is the Redmi 2 that will be the next handset made available in India by Xiaomi. This is a dual SIM handset powered by snapdragon 410 quad core processor (64 bit). The Redmi 2 is the next Xiaomi product that will be available on Flipkart – it will definitely be via flash sale.

They are launching this handset in New Delhi. The handset has got a matte, finger and grease resistant  back cover. Though the Redmi 2 is available in different colours, in India (I guess) we will have limited options.

This is a dual SIM handset with 4G support and both the SIM slots support 4G. Both LTE networks that work in India are supported. Once you make a call from a particular SIM, it remembers it and makes it the default for the next time.

This handset sports a 4.7 inch IPS fully laminated screen with AGC Dragontrail glass protection supporting 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. It is using MEM noise cancelling mics that are way better than ECM mics used generally on every handset. You will find MIUI 6 running out of the box.

This version is with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. The limited edition with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage will be available soon. Redmi 2 comes with 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera.

There is micro SD card to add additional storage and OTG is also supported. Redmi 2 with 2200 mAh battery supports quick charge 1.0, it will charge 20% faster than Redmi 1s.

Redmi 2 price in India is Rs. 6,999. Registrations start today, and 1st sale will be on 24 March 2015.

Xiaomi will also get the Mi Pad in the Indian markets. Mi Pad is powered by NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor [Quad Core clocked at 2.2 GHz, Cortex-A15 coupled with ULP GeForce Kepler GPU. It sports a 7.9 inch IPS screen with 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution. There is 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and 128GB external card support. The tab also comes with a good 8MP camera on the rear and 5MP on the front. The tab gets power from a 6700 Li-Po battery.

Mi Pad price in India us Rs. 12,999 it will be available on 24th March 2015 – no registration required.
