Motorola Razr Fold just landed in India, and honestly, this thing has been a long time coming. Priced starting at Rs. 1,49,999, it is Motorola’s first book-style foldable, and it comes out swinging hard at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series. Big display. Massive battery. Three 50MP cameras. Let’s get into it.

What Is the Motorola Razr Fold?

Most people know Motorola’s razr name from those iconic flip phones. This is different. The Razr Fold opens like a book, not a clamshell, giving you an 8.1-inch tablet-sized screen when unfolded. Think of it as your phone, your tablet, and your productivity tool rolled into one device that actually fits in a jacket pocket when closed.

It launched in India on May 13, 2026, and is available via Flipkart and Motorola.in.

First-month buyers (purchases before June 20, 2026) also get a free one-time screen replacement within the first year. That is a serious offer for a foldable phone.

Where to Buy the Motorola Razr Fold

The Razr Fold is available via Flipkart and Motorola.in as the primary channels in India. While the Razr Fold itself is not yet listed on Amazon.in at launch, you can browse the full Motorola foldable phone range on Amazon India here:

Display: The Star of the Show

Two screens. Both excellent. That is really the story here.

The 8.1-inch main display is an LTPO pOLED panel running at 2K resolution (2484 x 2232 pixels). 6200 nits peak brightness means direct sunlight is genuinely not a problem. Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut round it out. You are getting a proper cinematic panel here.

Then there is the 6.56-inch cover display, which runs at up to 165Hz with its own Dolby Vision support. Most people will spend a fair amount of time on just this screen, since it is full-sized enough for daily tasks without ever opening the phone.

DisplaySizeResolutionPeak BrightnessRefresh Rate
Main (Inner)8.1 inch2484 x 2232 (2K)6200 nits120Hz
Cover (Outer)6.56 inch2520 x 10806000 nits165Hz

Both panels use Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The cover display gets Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 protection while the inner panel uses Ultra Thin Glass.

Performance: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Does Not Disappoint

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip inside this phone is built on a 3nm TSMC process. Paired with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, there is nothing this device cannot handle. Gaming, video editing, three apps running side-by-side on that big screen, you name it.

Android 16 ships out of the box, and Motorola is committing to 7 years of OS upgrades plus 7 years of security updates. For a phone in this price bracket, that promise matters.

The liquid cooling system keeps sustained performance stable during long gaming sessions too.

Camera System: DXOMARK Gold Rating

Three cameras. All 50MP. That is a spec sheet that sounds almost too good to be true, but DXOMARK handed the Razr Fold a Gold rating, making it the top-ranked foldable camera system at the time of launch.

External Selfie20MPf/2.4Closed position

8K video recording at 30fps is supported, and the system includes Dolby Vision recording, Horizon Lock, and a Video Enhancement Engine. The 122-degree ultrawide doubles as a macro camera for close-up shots.

Pantone Validated Colors and Pantone SkinTone Validation mean portraits look accurate, not processed to death.

Battery and Charging: The Biggest in Any Foldable

This is where the Razr Fold does something no other foldable has done properly yet. A 6000mAh silicon-carbon battery inside a phone this slim is a genuine engineering achievement. The silicon-carbon chemistry allows more energy density without expanding the physical size of the cell.

80W TurboPower wired charging pushes over 12 hours of battery life back into the phone in about 12 minutes. There is also 50W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging if you need to top up earbuds or a smartwatch.

Compare that to any other book-fold phone on the market and the gap is obvious.

Build Quality and Durability

Motorola built the world’s first phone using Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 on the cover display. Drop performance improved by 75% compared to the previous generation, per Motorola’s internal testing.

The hinge itself uses a stainless steel teardrop design with a titanium inner screen plate, which reduces crease visibility and distributes pressure more evenly over the inner display. Real-world durability will need time to prove itself, but the engineering credentials are serious.

IP46, IP48, and IP49 water resistance ratings are certified, making this one of the better-protected foldables against water and dust.

The phone weighs 243g and closes down to just 9.89mm thick and 4.55mm when open. That 4.55mm open thickness is genuinely impressive for a phone carrying a 6000mAh battery.

Design and Colors

Three color options at launch:

Pantone Blackened Blue with a diamond pique-inspired matte finish. Dark, structured, understated. The kind of color that does not ask for attention but gets it anyway.

Pantone Lily White with a silk-inspired finish. Soft, reflective, catches light in a way that makes the phone look different at every angle.

FIFA World Cup 26 Edition in black with a leather-inspired material, 24K gold plated FIFA World Cup 26 logo, and a unique textured pattern.

NavIC support is worth calling out specifically for Indian users since it provides more accurate positioning within the subcontinent.

Audio

Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Sound by Bose tuning. Three microphones. No headphone jack (expected at this tier). Google Gemini handles voice control.

The Bose tuning partnership is new for Motorola and the results, by most early accounts, are noticeably better than what the Razr series has offered before.

The battery gap between the Razr Fold and its direct competitors is significant. 6000mAh versus the sub-4500mAh cells in rival foldables is a real-world advantage that shows up every single day.

Should You Buy the Motorola Razr Fold?

If you have been watching the foldable phone space and waiting for something that does not compromise on battery life, the Razr Fold is probably the answer you were looking for. The 6000mAh battery alone separates it from every other book-fold phone available right now.

The DXOMARK Gold camera rating, the 8.1-inch 2K display, and seven years of software support make a strong case at the Rs. 1,49,999 starting price. Add the free first-year screen replacement offer for early buyers and the Rs. 10,000 bank discount, and the effective cost drops to Rs. 1,39,999 for the base model.

Not for everyone? Sure. Foldables still carry a durability question mark in the minds of many buyers, and this is Motorola’s first book-fold. But the hinge engineering, the Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, and the IP49 rating suggest Motorola took that concern seriously.
