Micromax Canvas Blaze (MT500) is a dual SIM handset that supports GSM and CDMA networks. This is different from GSM+GSM handsets. The Canvas Blaze is available for Rs. 11,999.

There are very few smartphones available in India that support the CDMA + GSM networks, and for those using the CDMA network, here is some good news. The Micromax Canvas Blaze is here. It seems Micromax and MTS have partnered together for the Canvas Blaze product. Some sites have already started selling the handset online – probably not locked to a particular CDMA network, a user confirmed that the handset is locked to MTS CDMA network.

The Blaze MT500 CDMA handset runs on Android 4.1 with 768MB RAM. The internal storage is not mentioned, I guess it will be 4GB that’s the standard. There is micro SD card support of up to 32GB.

  9. if its mts cdma locked, it will work only in the states where mts circles are present …. and cannot function in remaining states , like andhra pradesh ?!

  10. Shopclues has updated on their site. They have removed the word ‘Unlocked’.
Atleast, this clears all the confusion now.
Poor Micromax :(. I think they don’t know how to capture the market?!!!
Just release a won with open sim (Unlocked), then see the sale going up. Trust me, irrespective of the device performance.
What do you say Gogi bro.?

  11. one of mine friend bought it
    Good looks
it has qualcomm snapdragon msm8625q with adreno 203 gpu
display is not so good, very faded.. viewing angles are worst
    Antutu Score— 7383
    Quadrant score— 2717
    Doesn’t play Full hd videos,
720p runs in mx player s/w mode
    Cdma locked to MTS
without cdma sim Gsm doesn’t work
    internet runs only with cdma
    OTG not suppored
Camera quality is average even canvas 2 has better camera
apps moved to external sd card
Gps works great even in indoors..
Tample run 2 , Subway surfer runs smooth
Instead of that good for CDMA users because of limited
    choices in CDMA smartphone catogry

    1. Thanks Pratik. Waiting for such a clear review.
Strange to here that ‘without cdma sim Gsm doesn’t work’, ‘Cdma locked to MTS’?!! Can you please cross check these details once again.
If this is the case, no one may buy this handset. This is really a B*** ***t then. No one will buy this crap and definitely not me.
If possible, provide the details of battery life as well as it may help others who may show some interest.

    2. Gogi,
Please correct if the information ‘probably not locked to a particular CDMA network’ if the data provided by Parit (Sorry for my spell mistake in my previous post) reflects to be true.
This can help lot of people or else, they may be in big trouble.

        1. But Gogi,
If that’s the case why shopclues is claiming its an unlocked version?! (‘Micromax Canvas Blaze MT500 GSM+CDMA Unlocked’) Strange!!!

    3. Parit,
Hope you are not kidding. Even the shopclues site says its an unlocked version. Then, how come your friends device is locked to MTS?!! Is it a special/limited addition?!!!

      1. Bro @nishad m not kidding… even m also shoked after seeing that kind of nonsense micromax ad mts had done ..because i m a cdma user and eagerly waiting for this handset…, in my case when i inserted a TATA CDMA sim it shows that insert a MTS sim…ab bro is bat se idea lga k fon locked ha ya nai… i dont know about which kind of phones shopclues is selling may be they are unlocked verson.., but as my friend’s handset which he bought a local retailer in 10,000rs i gave the above review of the handset which i exprienced on it….

        1. Bro @nishad do one thing visit
and download its user manual in that they clearly mantioned that this
is an MTS locked handset so you will require an MTS SIM card to make it operational…

          1. Thanks for updating this Parit. Actually i was looking for this information. Now i can see these details on micromax web site. This is really a very bad option. Yesterday, I thought of contacting Shopclues but refrained.
Anyways, thanks for your precious information. You have rescued many :).

  12. Hi Gogi,
Not sure if this is the right time for this question. Do you thing it will be wise to go for this option or, Htc Desire XC. Since a long time, I am finding it very difficult to get a good phone with GSM+CDMA capability. Please suggest.
    Thanks.

      1. Thanks Gogi brother.
I don’t think these micromax guys gonna provide you a review unit!!
(I think if the handset is good, then you will get a review unit 😉 )
Earlier TATA Indicom has announced that they will release GSM+CDMA smartphones, we have been waiting in the same hope but in vain.
Atleast Micromax has taken this step which is really appreciated but not sure to what extent this can solve users purpose.

  13. Micromax use qualcomm processor becuse mediatek processor does not support CDMA network or they have not made processor for CDMA. And Qualcomm is very old & experrience player for CDMA devices processor.

  14. micromax is going to launch canvas 2.2
    here is the specs
    5inch qhd screen,1gb ram,4gb rom,android 4.2,1.3ghz quadcore mt6582
8mp camera and 1.3 mp front camera
    dual sim support

  15. Guess its the same processor that is found on sony xperia m. If it is, then gaming will be better than mediatek chipset as the display is of lower resoluion and adreno 305 is powerfull with Nenamark results being 60fps on xperia m.

  16. hi gogi,
    I am your big fan…
    I am planning for a music phone around 20K – 30 K any sugestions?

  17. Why would anyone go with this wen i can get a116 at this price nd canvas magnus for 1.5k more. Micromax trying to become samsung 😛

  18. SO this is the first ever MMX phn to use a processor other than mediatek 😮
    still too overpriced .

    1. Its not first phone with qualcomm, micromax’s first 5inch phone canvas a100 was also having qualcomm processor.

      1. ohk sry my mistake guys
still they shld use more Qualcomm processors in their flagship phns
rather than always rebranding mediatek ones..
