Lava has added a new Smart series to its smartphone lineup, and the first device in it is the Smart 4 Plus. Positioned as a “No Tension Phone,” this one is aimed squarely at young, first time smartphone buyers who want something stylish, durable and reasonably reliable without spending big money. It is priced at Rs 9,999 and lands in a segment that is already pretty crowded in India.
The company says the under Rs 10,000 category is all about three things: design, durability and battery. Sumit Singh, SVP and Head of Product at Lava, said the Smart 4 Plus has been built keeping Indian conditions in mind, right down to Band 28 network support and a body that can survive the monsoon splash test.

Lava Smart 4 Plus Design and Display
The headline feature here is the 6.75 inch HD+ display, which is a fairly large panel for this price bracket. Lava is positioning it for streaming and everyday media consumption, which makes sense since most budget buyers spend a good chunk of their screen time on YouTube and short video apps.

Lava Smart 4 Plus Performance and Battery
Under the hood, the phone runs on the UNISOC 9863A Octa-Core processor, paired with 4GB RAM that can be expanded with another 4GB of virtual RAM. Storage is set at 64GB, which should be enough for basic app usage and casual gaming.
Battery life is handled by a 5000mAh battery with Type-C charging at 10W. That charging speed is on the slower side even for this segment, so do not expect quick top ups, but the large battery capacity should still get most users through a full day without trouble.
Lava Smart 4 Plus Camera and Connectivity
On the camera front, you get a 13MP AI Dual Rear Camera along with a 5MP selfie camera for video calls and casual selfies. The phone supports Dual SIM (4G+4G) with a Nano plus Nano configuration, and includes a few handy extras like conference calling, anonymous call recording and auto call recording.
Lava Smart 4 Plus Software and Build Quality
The Smart 4 Plus ships with Android 15 Go Edition, which is the right call for a phone in this price range since the Go Edition is lighter on resources. Lava is also promising 2 years of security updates, which is a reasonable commitment for a budget device.

On durability, the phone carries an IP64 rating, meaning it can handle dust exposure and light splashes. It is not waterproof, but it should survive accidental spills or a bit of rain.
As with other Lava phones, this one comes with Free Service at Home, so buyers do not need to travel to a service center for basic support issues.
Lava Smart 4 Plus Price and Availability
The Lava Smart 4 Plus price in India is set at Rs 9,999. The phone is available through Lava retail outlets and offline financial schemes across the country, rather than through online marketplaces at launch.

Should You Buy The Lava Smart 4 Plus
If you are shopping under Rs 10,000 and care more about battery life, build quality and a big display than raw performance, the Smart 4 Plus is worth a look once you have tried it hands on at a Lava retail store. The UNISOC chipset is not going to win any benchmark contests, but for calling, browsing, and watching videos, it should do the job fine. Just keep in mind this is currently an offline only launch, so check availability at your nearest Lava outlet before heading out.
