Band Z1 / Zero Unboxing
Box Pack Content : Band, user manual and magnetic charging dock. There are two variants check the video review. However for now only one variant is available in India.
This fitness band looks like a watch, thought it is not exactly a Smartwatch. The band looks great, it is using a metal dial with a very good build quality and finishing. There are no physical buttons. The Honor Band Z1 / Zero does come with an OLED touch display (mono color) of 1.06 inches supporting 128 x 128 pixels resolution.
I got two variants – one was with a black color dial with classic Lozenge pattern strap and the other one was with a golden color dial with leather loop-able straps.
Weight was 24 grams for Z1 with classic Lozenge pattern strap and 21 grams for Z1 with leather strap. The Lozenge pattern looks really awesome and enhances the overall look of this fitness band. Z1 / Zero is available in 3 different color options Black, Cream and White.
As mentioned there are no buttons and there is no heart rate sensor. On the rear there is the charging point to charge this device.
This band makes use of Bluetooth 4.1 and is powered by Cortex M4 STM32F411 processor. It is compatible with Android and iOS platforms. Huawei Honor Band Z1 / Zero is IP68 certified – dust and water resistant.
Download and install the Huawei Wear app from Google Play or Apple store. Then pair the device – follow the steps as mentioned on the app.
Usage and Performance
With this smart band you will be able to monitor the steps you have taken throughout the day, calories you have burned, it can monitor your sleep quality (deep sleep / light sleep etc) and it can also show you notifications – incoming calls / messages / notifications from apps.
You can either use the Huawei wear app to view your progress or simply check it on the band screen. There are very few options available on the Band Z1 / Zero. Plus you can choose from limited number of watch faces.
Gestures are supported. Twist your wrist, and the screen with switch on automatically for few second. To move though menu options, simply twist your wrist.
This band is consistent – I got near about similar readings for similar kind of activities. Never compare two bands for accuracy instead look for consistency.
Now this band can monitor your sleep pattern, not only at night but also your brief / afternoon naps – this is cool because not many bands are able to record short naps.
There is a 70mAh non-removable battery that can be fully charged in less than 2 hours. On a full charge you can expect up to 7 days of battery backup. You will need to use the Magnetic charging dock to charge this device. A 10 minutes charge should be sufficient enough to get it going for almost 24 hours.
The Huawei Honor Band Z1 / Zero looks interesting, quite accurate and gives a decent battery backup even with the OLED display. So if you are looking for a fitness band that you would love wearing and which is functional (monitor progress on band screen), the Z1 / Zero is a very good option, though it does come for a price.
Huawei Honor Band Z1 is available for ₹5,499. You can also buy from GearBest.com for $69.89.
