The tablet market is getting hotter in India. Now even big brands are coming up with low cost tablets. HCL has now launched the ME U1 and MyEdu tablets that are priced at Rs. 7,999 and Rs. 9,999 respectively.

Check out the features of these low cost tablets, the main highlight is that both these HCL tablets come with the latest Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS. The MyEdu as the name suggest is especially made for students.

HCL ME U1 features

This tablet sports a 7 inch capacitive display with standard resolution of 800 by 480 pixels. The ME U1 comes with 512 MB RAM with internal memory of 4 GB. This tablet does not come with built in 3G which means you cannot use this as  a phone, however you can connect external 3G dongle (limited models supported) for 3G connectivity. Android 4.0 runs out of the box and does well with the 1 GHz (single core) processing speed.

Other features are mini USB port, Wi-Fi, a microSD slot for adding more storage space and a full USB port. There is a front facing VGA camera that can be used for video chat / call using Skype. The 3600 mAh battery can keep this tab running for almost 5 hours.

HCL MyEdu features

The MyEdu tab is priced slightly higher but is exactly the same configuration as the HCL ME U1. The extra cost is for the educational software’s that come pre-installed. There many pre-loaded educational contents including NCERT book packs. You also get a free memory card.

The HCL MyEdu tablet price in India is Rs. 9,999 to Rs. 11,499.
