As you all know Gionee Mobiles had already started rolling out KitKat updates on most of their handsets and some in the pipeline. For now the Gionee M2 got the update a few days back. If you have the Gionee M2 you can upgrade it to Android 4.4.x.

I am not sure if the update is available via OTA (over the air) but looking at the Q&A page on Gionee’s official website (forum) it seems like users will need to update it manually. You can visit this page and check the procedure on how to update Gionee M2 to KitKat.

The Gionee M2 comes with a bigger batter capacity (4200 mAh) and with KitKat update you should get a little better performance and probably improved battery backup. In case you are not able to install the update you can visit the nearest service centre and get it done. The update has just been rolled out and it might take some days before the service centres are aware of / have access to the official KitKat ROM.

If you have already updated do leave your feedback in the comments below.
