Design, display and features
This fitness band looks quite attractive. It is using aluminum alloy case, rectangular design and strap is made of silicone. You will find the ELE logo on the stainless steel stud. The glossy area on the top is slightly curved; it also includes an OLED screen of 0.66 inches supporting 64 x 48 pixels resolution.
The content on the display looks cool, easy to read, you can use the touch button to navigate through different options (date / time, steps, calories burned, distance, heart rate, media control and camera control). The Elephone ELE MGCool is using NRF51822 chipset with Bluetooth 4.0 support. This band is waterproof IPX7 certified you can use it in shower, in rainy season or while swimming.
On the bottom side there is a heart rate sensor and charging points.
You will need to download the app, there is a QR code below next to the heart rate sensor, scan it and download the app. You can also search for MGCool Band 2 app on Google Play or Apple Store. The app will auto sync every time you open it. There is no need to carry your phone, the band will keep count of steps, calories burned, will monitor your sleep and your heart rate and will sync the next time you start the app.
This ELE MGCool Band 2 gave consistent results, if need be you can adjust the stride value to get a more accurate reading – this will vary from person to person (check video review).
The Elephone ELE MGCool Band 2 can also help you control the media player, camera, get call / SMS notifications and to some extent get app notifications (Facebook / Whatsapp supported).
When you use the heart rate monitoring feature the device will continuously monitor the same. There is exercise mode too; you can use that for more accurate/activity based monitoring.
There is an 80 mAh built in battery that took less than 2 hours to charge. On a full charge you will get up to 7 days of battery life, even more if you barely use heart rate option.
This is another good band that works quite well, and is waterproof too. Key highlight is the good looks and the easy to read display (the screen however is not at all visible under direct sunlight). You need to press the touch button once to switch on the screen and by default it will show you the date, time and battery level.
The Elephone ELE MGCool Band 2 is not available in India but you can buy it from GearBest for $24.40 (approx Rs. 1700) – you can select standard shipping, custom duty is not applicable (you don’t need to pay custom duty).
