Google has introduced a completely new laptop category called Googlebook, built around Gemini Intelligence and designed to work closely with the Android ecosystem. The first Googlebook laptops are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite platform, with Dell and HP among the first brands to launch devices. Pre-orders have already started in select markets.

So, what exactly is a Googlebook, and how is it different from a regular Windows laptop or Chromebook? Here is a closer look.

What Is Googlebook?

Googlebook is Google’s idea of an AI-first laptop. Instead of adding AI features to an existing laptop platform later, these machines are designed around Gemini Intelligence from the beginning.

Gemini Intelligence is Google’s AI system that can use information from your emails, calendar and content visible on the screen to offer useful suggestions.

The idea is to make the AI more proactive. Instead of waiting for you to type a question every time, the system can understand what you are working on and bring up useful information when needed.

Another important part of Googlebook is its close connection with the Android ecosystem.

These laptops are designed to work smoothly with Android phones and tablets. They can also run thousands of supported Android apps and games natively, giving users access to mobile applications directly on a larger laptop screen.

This is quite different from a traditional Windows laptop, where Android app support usually requires additional software or an emulation layer.

Why Googlebook Uses Snapdragon X Elite

The first generation of Googlebook laptops is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite platform.

Snapdragon X Elite is an ARM-based processor developed specifically for laptops. In simple terms, it follows a similar architecture to the Snapdragon processors commonly found inside Android smartphones, but is designed for much more powerful computing tasks.

It comes with a 12-core Oryon CPU, with Qualcomm focusing heavily on both performance and power efficiency.

That efficiency is important because Google and Qualcomm are positioning Googlebook devices as laptops capable of offering strong performance without sacrificing battery life.

Snapdragon X Elite also includes a dedicated NPU, or Neural Processing Unit.

An NPU is a special part of the processor designed mainly for AI-related tasks. It can handle jobs such as voice recognition, image processing and on-device AI without putting all the workload on the main CPU.

This hardware also helps Gemini Intelligence perform certain AI tasks locally and more efficiently instead of depending completely on cloud processing.

Kedar Kondap, Qualcomm’s Senior Vice President and General Manager for Compute and Gaming, said Snapdragon X Elite combines performance, efficiency and support for native Android apps and games, making it suitable for Googlebook devices.

Cast My Apps, Magic Pointer and Rambler Explained

Googlebook introduces several new features designed to improve the connection between Android phones and laptops.

Cast My Apps

Cast My Apps allows users to bring content and app context from their smartphone to the Googlebook screen.

This can make it easier to continue working with a phone app on a larger display without constantly moving files between devices.

Magic Pointer

Magic Pointer is designed to improve interaction between your smartphone and Googlebook.

It focuses on secure phone-to-laptop control and allows connected devices to work together more smoothly than a regular Bluetooth connection.

Rambler

Rambler is one of the more interesting AI features.

It can look at information from emails, calendar entries and content currently visible on the screen. Based on this information, it can automatically show relevant details without requiring users to leave their current work and search manually.

Googlebook laptops also include Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, which are designed to improve graphics performance and frame rates.

This becomes especially useful because Googlebook can run supported Android games directly on the laptop.

Dell XPS Googlebook and HP Googlebook 14 Are the First Models

Dell and HP are among the first companies to introduce Googlebook laptops.

These are not entry-level machines either. Both brands are starting with premium devices.

The Dell XPS Googlebook combines Dell’s familiar XPS design with Snapdragon X Elite hardware, Gemini Intelligence and deeper Android integration.

Konstantin Tuv, Dell’s Head of Consumer and Gaming Products, described the device as a premium laptop aimed at users who are already part of the Google and Android ecosystem.

The HP Googlebook 14 takes a similar approach.

It uses Snapdragon X Elite for performance and battery efficiency while offering Gemini Intelligence and native Android application support in a premium 14-inch laptop design.

Samuel Chang, HP’s Senior Vice President for Consumer Personal Systems, said the focus is on keeping users productive while allowing their devices to stay better connected.

Both laptops are available for pre-order through Google, Dell and HP in supported markets, with the first shipments expected during the fall season.

When Will Googlebook Launch in India?

The initial Googlebook rollout is mainly focused on the US market.

At the moment, there is no confirmed Googlebook India launch date or official Indian pricing for the Dell XPS Googlebook or HP Googlebook 14.

That is not too surprising for a completely new Google hardware category. Wider international availability could follow after the first-generation rollout.

However, Indian buyers who want to experience Snapdragon X Elite laptops already have several options available.

Googlebook Could Become Google’s Next Big Laptop Platform

Googlebook looks like more than just another laptop launch.

Google appears to be creating a new category where AI, Android apps and cross-device connectivity are part of the core experience rather than optional features added later.

There are similarities with how Chromebooks created a separate space in the laptop market, especially in education and affordable computing. Googlebook, however, is starting from the premium end and puts much greater focus on Gemini Intelligence.

The use of Snapdragon X Elite is also important. Qualcomm’s ARM-based laptop platform gives Google the combination of performance, battery efficiency, AI processing and Android compatibility needed for this type of device.

With Dell and HP already participating, more laptop manufacturers could eventually join the Googlebook ecosystem.

For Android users, the most interesting part may not simply be the hardware. It is the idea of having a laptop that works more naturally with the phone, apps and Google services they already use every day.
