Celkon A118 Signature HD quad core with HD screen launched for Rs. 11976

Celkon mobiles has launched the A118 model also called the Celkon Signature HD A118 for Rs. 12,500. It is with MediaTek processor, similar specifications, 8MP camera and with a 5 inch HD screen.

Lava Mobiles recently launched the Lava Iris 504q again with similar specifications. There are already a good number of handsets available with HD resolution and MediaTek quad core processor. And a new handset is being added to the list almost every week.

While many users are keeping an eye on the next move by Micromax and Karbonn (they have already announced the Micromax canvas 4 and the Karbonn S6) there are still many looking to buy the HD quad core handset and expecting a price drop.

The Celkon Signature A118 sails on the Jelly Bean 4.2 OS with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage. The primary camera is of 8MP resolution and there is a front camera of 3MP resolution. Other features are 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. The battery is of 2000 mAh capacity.

Hello, sir. I have sorted four mobiles for buying. They are XOLO Q1000, ZEN 701 HD, GIONEE ELIFE E3, CELKON SIGNATURE HD A118.CPU performance of all these phones are quite similar. Can you suggest me one among four given above based on the below given parameters?
->Good display(good colour reproduction, wide angle view, sharp contrast)
->Good camera(good daylight and still photography, good quality recorded video, above average low light photography)
    ->Good music(in earphone, external speaker).
It would be of great help for me,if you suggest me one considering above parameters.

Dear sir, does java makes any difference? signature q119 is not having java. Please tell me how this will effect performance?

    • Ankit Pradhan says

No! Java does not make a difference on an android phone. Gsmarena shows info about this as it has been doing so from post android era , nokia symbain phones 😉

These entry level phones always skimp on the sensor quality…They never have proper GPS sensors…..A good CPU and GPU alone can’t make it a worthy phone….During real world usage..(for navigation and maps) a good GPS sensor (along with GLONASS Support if possible!) and a compass (Magnetometer) is very essential…… I have been using Micromax A100 for an year and it is very unreliable for navigation….(larger apps are unstable frequently)……..

Hey Gogi bro i have just recd. Celkon A119Q and exploring it but I found an option in (Android 4.2.1) settings “USB internet – sharing windows PC internet via USB cable” (reverse tethering) Pl. tell us about settings in PC as to how to start PC internet on mobile? This is VERY IMPORTANT for those who don’t have wifi and data connectivity is slow (most parts in non urban areas) so that we can use broadband connection on mobile via PC. We are unable to get the apps from google play without wifi/data connt. Pl. help Gogi bro.

gpu is also important and unless intel does a big turnaround, ARM chips are far better than x86 architecture. I mean mediatek quad core is good. Go for it. Also power vrsgx 544 gpu is there. while intel one has intel graphics. 1.6 ghz intel also generates a lot of heat while mediatek quad core does not.

hey gogi please give a review about micromax canvas hd vs xolo q 1000 which is good on youtube

    • Basavaraju says

Do not choose xolo mobiles, their customer care is worst (practically you will not get any warranty on xolo mobiles, 1 year warranty they claim is just on papers). Do not waste your valuable money on xolo. Google for additional reviews. All the best in searching your new mobile.

    just a design change.. cam reduced… battery reduced… I am already using 119q….its awesome…. what’s the use of this I don’t know….1000extra…

    • Ankit Pradhan says

Cam is not actually reduced. a119q has a 8mp camera notched up to 12 by interpolation.
This, according to site has USB OTG support, while a119 lacks it. Also the looks man! a119q looks cheap chinese thing in front of this :)

        Hey Ankit Pradhan,

I have seen the review on Celkon A118HD. I had a very bad experience buying Canvas 4 and even tried Canvas HD. Both suck..the camera is pathetic, specially in Canvas 4 where they say 13 mp…grosss…the flash is so bright that the object is not visible..my htc desire U and galaxy s advance with 5mp was solid. so i was wondering if celkon A118 would be a good deal. but after reviewing your video ( as i know you gave the reviews as a user and not like gsarena or techsoft) i ordered it today. hope i will have no regrets.

Celkon A118 gives you 4.2 jelly bean and a free flip cover.
and by the way, celkon A119 is for Rs12,150 only now.

    • Mahir Kalra says

so i think its wise to buy celkon A119 instead of celkon A118 as u r getting 100 mAh more battery and better camera with cheaper price sacrifyising 4.2 jelly bean and a free flip cover.

      • Ankit Pradhan says

a118 is better then a119q in looks, OTG support (according to celkon site) and also it comes with same 4.2 and a free flip cover. :) paying a little for looks is good. btw available for 11900 on infibeam 😉

above comparison i have copied from your blog only.

Is there any difference respect to sensors???
