3G or Wi-Fi or Both?

Wi-Fi tablets are cheaper and are mostly preferred, but then you have limited mobility. You are always depended on the Wi-Fi hotspot or router access point. 3G in fact offers you more mobility but you will have to use an extra SIM and subscribe to 3G services. If the tablet has 3G most probably it will also have Wi-Fi. So if you move a lot and are dependent on the tablet for your day to day office work then go for the 3G and Wi-Fi option.

Tablet Screen Size

The tablets are available in 7 inch and 10 inch sizes. 7 inch tablet is smaller and is easy to move around and fits in your pocket where as the 10 inch tablet is a bit larger but it gives you more working space though you might find it a bit odd to carry it around all the time. Well the decision is yours based on what you want the tablet to do.

Capacitive or Resistive screen

Most high end tablets come with Capacitive touch screen some low cost tablet may come with resistive screen. The Capacitive touch screen are more advanced they can sense touch and pressure and are more comfortable when inputting data.

Operating System

If you have already decided on the brand then the OS really does not make any difference. If it is the Apple iPad 2 you want you get it with the iOS. The latest is the BlackBerry PlayBook with the Blackberry OS. But the most used is no doubt the Android OS which you will find loaded on many new tablets (Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1)  that are available or being launched in India.

There are several other features that the tablet may come with like a USB port, Bluetooth, GPS,HDMI port etc. If you are going in for a low cost tablet PC some of these features may be missing. So make sure you get what you are looking for.

Price

If price is an issue do not worry there are a few tablets that are priced below Rs. 13,000 for example the Reliance 3G tab for 12,999 and the latest Beetel Magiq Tablet for just Rs. 9,999.

Battery

Make sure the tablet last longer on a single battery charge. Before you buy a tablet do check the estimated number of hours the tablet can last on a full battery charge.
