Apple iPhone 8 was recently launched in India and as expected the price of Apple iPhone 7 dropped. The iPhone 7 is now available for a price tag of under Rs. 40K. Here is the review of Apple iPhone 7, I know it’s late but in case you are tempted to buy the iPhone 7 cause of the price drop.

This is also the first time that I am doing the review of a iPhone. I got the Apple iPhone 7 from Flipkart for Rs. 38,999. Apple is totally a different category and a unique product. The box packing is simple and here are the content you will get inside the box.

iPhone 7, SIM ejector pin, user manual, warranty card, data cable (USB to Lightning), Lightning to 3.5mm audio jack, travel charger and premium quality earphone. Inside the box you also get some apple stickers.

I got the iOS 11.0.3 update. The UI is different and if you have used an Android phone before it will take some time getting used to. The user experience was pretty good, pretty smooth I would say, really enjoyed the smoothness with which the OS was performing.

Performance

As already mentioned the Apple iPhone falls in a different category.  If you look at the hardware on paper it does not seem powerful but thanks to the iOS it works amazingly smooth. Handset does heat up like android phones when using heavy apps but heat up is under control. Overall performance was buttery smooth.

Apple iPhone 7 Gaming review

Since this handset is running iOS, I downloaded Asphalt 8 and it played really well. One thing to note is that the OS is different and the apps are optimized to work on the iOS. There are not many options that you get on the Asphalt  8 when compared with what you get on Android.

Apple iPhone 7 quality

The game play was smooth but if you compare the details with what you see on the Android phones, you can clearly make out the difference, i.e. you can see more details (graphics / effects) on Android.

iPhone 7 Camera Review

Rear Camera : 12MP, f/1.8 aperture, flash
Front Camera :  7MP FaceTime HD, f/2.2
Video Recording : 4K @ 30fps, 1080p @ 30/60fps, 720p @ 30fps. Slow motion 1080p @ 120, 720p @ 240 fps

This is Apple iPhone 7 that comes with a single camera. The camera quality is above average.  Low light shots turned out pretty good. This handset can shoot 4K videos. There is OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) not really that great.

Apple iPhone 7 Size

As mentioned the still camera quality is above average however when it comes to using this phone for recording videos, the quality is impressive, even the slow motion videos. Check the samples listed below.

Others

The finger print sensor on the front is very fast and accurate. iPhone 7 also gives a unique vibration feedback. Sound is loud and clear, no issues found with networks or any other issues as such.

iPhone 7 Battery review

Apple has not given any info on the battery. It however took me 2 hours and 30 minutes to charge this handset from 20% to 100%. And on a full charge you can get one to one and a half day of battery life, based on your usage.

Verdict

This was the first time I actually used a iPhone though really not that impressed, in fact you can get the same or better experience from most Android smartphones. Having said that the iPhone 7 Plus and the iPhone 8 Plus that comes with dual cameras are way better. I have seen the camera capabilities of the iPhone 8 Plus, so in case you are planning to get a iPhone makes sense to go for the Plus version if you are okay with the size and price.

Rating 4 out of 5

You can buy the Apple iPhone 7 for under Rs. 40K.

  1. High price + smooth performance + satisfied ego = iPhone

Phone from 2500 to 60-70k (means a phone for everyone) with performance varying to price + options = android phone

    Pasand apni apni

  3. Gogi I tell you that after Six months of usage you will agree on one thing that…..iphone has its limitations but for the real functions of a phone it will never slow down and hang.there will be no lag in opening up of any apps even after an year…people who use this phone have real satisfaction after an year…..initially ios does not appear as good as android platform but with the passage of time you will see that there is pure consistency in the performance, irrespective of the fact that it is a new handset or an old one….ios never shows any lagging like android….but At the same time android has its upper edge where you can do plethora of things on Android platform….but for real user experience….the phone functionality and Safari browser’s power and simplicity will keep you hooked to ios…but many people will keep an android alongwith iphone like the way I do…..I bet after a few months you will also feel the same….I can tell you that best display are of Samsung but iphone is all about best journey of experience where of you want to take a quick snap you can without waiting to see camera app opening and it will never lag….

    1. You will get the same experience with Android also, just keep a watch on the storage space, with Android there is so much to do and if camera is very good you take lot of shots and fill the storage space and that is when issues starts, plus some apps on Android are not properly optimized, so avoid installing non-optimized apps. Apple is strict with apps, Google is not as much.

      1. But there is also the cache issue which normal users like me would find difficult to clear going into phone settings of startup by pressing many combinations of keys…..what I want to say is that you will definitely find user experience better than the android in long term…..initially I also didn’t like it too much….but belive me gogi that if so many people are apple iPhone fan then there must be something very good inside. Please wait a while and you will see that it is your good decision to go with iphone as it also suits your personality

        1. I don’t think he will be convinced by smooth performance only. My friends working in Singapore told me SG is ten time better than india. But after 2 years of my experience I found I can’t live with that life , like live in a palace with hand cuff.

      2. @amar ,what are talking, iphone dont lag or hang i used the iphone 6 for 3 days and in that time, it was taking around 6 to 10 seconds even in opening a simple wahtsapp group and yes gogi you are right performence of a phone will decrease if internal storage is filled fully or available very less

        1. You sure that you were using an iPhone……if there is so much lag…apple replaces the handset

  5. Never been an iphone fan. Price to hardware ratio is too steep. There are many better performing android devices at a much lower price like oneplus 3t, honor 8 pro, nubia z11, nokia 8. Truth is that all apps on apple store have been optimised to run on ios hence we get good performances.

    1. Iphone is a phone which gives farrr better user experience than any 200 core processor android phone…….it gives far better battery life with GPS turned on all day whereas in Android you can not turn GPS on for 4 hours as it will drain the battery…..instead of facilitating heavy hardware with laagy experience they work on smooth function of phone…..but really I tell you that android phone can do much more than iphone as iphone has toooooooooooo many restrictions

    2. Truth is that all apps on apple store have been optimised to run on ios hence we get good performances……that is what user experience is all about…..isn’t it?

  6. I wish the review came earlier.. I regret buying iPhone 7 on big billion days. The only good thing I like is that the OS is very smooth, and Apple providing constant software updates. Camera as reviewed is good but not that great as I had expected from an iPhone. Basic functionalities are very limited..

    1. I have seen the Apple iPhone 8 Plus and the camera on that is awesome, but then it is very pricey. Yes OS is very smooth, camera samples I have attached in this review not really impressed with that.

    1. Those kind of details are not relevant to iOS. An average iOS user doesn’t even know how much ram his iPhone is packing.

  7. since beginning itself I am not impressed with the price of i phones….
may be they are best in performance…
but the reality reviewed by Gogi today…

i phones are just for the status symbol for many people today….not for me atleast.

galaxy s8 and note 8 are way better phones today….

even Nokia 8 at 36k is good ….

  8. I have 40k to spend should I get this or one plus 5.?

    Your personal opinion please?

    1. OnePlus 5 is better option, but if you can wait, wait for a month or so there is rumor about OnePlus 5T being launched.

    1. Sahi hai. Camera quality bhi honestly above average bataye. Koi aur shayad hota to bus iPhone ka naam sunte hi excellent camera bol deta. But Apple fans will not like that honesty bro.
