Airtel has now rolled out about 20,000 Aadhaar based eKYC units across India. Now the next time you visit Airtel gallery for getting a new SIM card you can get a new SIM and activate the same using Aadhaar eKYC within minutes.

It was Reliance that started the Aadhaar based eKYC solution for JIO SIMs and now Airtel will be using the same technology. The Aadhaar eKYC unit can easily and securely verify the customer by using Aadhaar card number and customer’s bio-metric input – finger print / retina scan.

The new on the spot verification method will improve customer experience, this method also eliminates paper work and only thing that the customer need to carry is their Aadhaar card. For now about 20k units have been rolled out across Airtel stores, the company is planning to get 500,000 more units within few months.

Airtel is already getting a good response with over 50,000 customers subscribing per day using the eKYC method.
