Xiaomi has launched its latest foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, in China on September 7. This time, Xiaomi has moved away from the older tall and narrow foldable design and has gone with a shorter and wider form factor.
The phone comes with Xiaomi’s new Xring O3 processor, a Leica-powered triple camera setup, a large 6000mAh battery and two high-brightness displays.
Here is a closer look at the Xiaomi 18 Fold specifications, price, design and features.

Xiaomi 18 Fold Price and India Launch
The Xiaomi 18 Fold has currently launched only in China, and Xiaomi has not announced an India launch date yet.
Early pricing information suggests that the phone could start between 9,999 yuan and 11,999 yuan in China. A direct currency conversion puts this at around Rs 1.19 lakh to Rs 1.43 lakh.

However, this should not be considered the official Xiaomi 18 Fold price in India.
There is also no confirmation about when the phone will come to India. Until Xiaomi makes an official announcement, units available through unofficial sellers are likely to be imported models.
Xiaomi 18 Fold Design
The Xiaomi 18 Fold uses a shorter and wider foldable design compared to Xiaomi’s previous foldable phones.

When closed, the phone comes with a 5.38-inch cover display. Opening it reveals a larger 7.58-inch foldable screen.
Xiaomi has used a 7-series aluminium frame, which is designed to offer better strength while keeping the phone relatively lightweight.
Most colour options come with Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 on the back.
There is also a Ceramic Special Edition that uses a silicon nitride ceramic rear panel. Xiaomi says this version goes through a complex manufacturing process to improve scratch resistance and durability.
The folding mechanism uses Xiaomi’s latest Dragon Bone hinge.
The inner screen also uses a dual-layer UTG, or ultra-thin glass, structure. Xiaomi says this helps improve durability while reducing the visibility of the fold crease.

According to Xiaomi, the crease depth has been reduced to around 30 microns or less.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold weighs 219 grams and is only 5.02mm thick when unfolded.
It also comes with IP58 and IP59 ratings for protection against water and dust.
Xiaomi 18 Fold Display
Both displays support adaptive LTPO refresh rates between 1Hz and 120Hz.
| Specification | Cover Display | Inner Display |
|---|---|---|
| Size | 5.38 inches | 7.58 inches |
| Resolution | 1168 x 1712 pixels | 2364 x 1672 pixels |
| Peak Brightness | 4000 nits | 4000 nits |
| Refresh Rate | LTPO 1-120Hz | LTPO 1-120Hz |
| Other Features | 1.23mm narrow bezels | Low-reflection AR coating |
The 4000-nit peak brightness should help improve outdoor visibility, while the adaptive refresh rate can reduce power consumption when the screen does not need to run at 120Hz.
Xiaomi Xring O3 Processor
One of the biggest upgrades is the new Xiaomi Xring O3 chipset.
This is Xiaomi’s second self-developed flagship processor and is manufactured using a 3nm process.
It features a 10-core CPU with clock speeds of up to 4.35GHz, along with a 16-core GPU.
Xiaomi says the chip contains around 24 billion transistors.
The phone also gets a 3D loop vapour chamber cooling system to help control temperatures during gaming and other demanding tasks.
Xiaomi’s own testing claims that the phone can run a large open-world game at around 60fps, with body temperature staying close to 41.8 degrees Celsius.
Real-world performance will become clearer once independent testing and benchmarks are available.
Leica Triple Rear Camera

The Xiaomi 18 Fold comes with a Leica-tuned triple rear camera setup.
| Camera | Sensor | Aperture | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main Camera | 200MP, 1/1.56-inch | f/1.7 | OIS, 1G+6P lens |
| Telephoto | 50MP | f/2.8 | 3.5x optical zoom, OIS |
| Ultrawide | 50MP | f/2.4 | EIS |
The 200MP main camera uses a large 1/1.56-inch sensor and comes with optical image stabilisation.
The 50MP telephoto camera offers 3.5x optical zoom and an 80mm equivalent focal length, making it useful for portraits and zoom shots.

There is also a 50MP ultrawide camera for landscape and group photography.
All three rear cameras support 4K video recording at up to 60fps, along with Dolby Vision.
Battery and Charging
The Xiaomi 18 Fold packs a large 6000mAh battery, with a rated capacity of 5875mAh.
Xiaomi is using a stacked battery design with an energy density of around 920Wh/L.
According to Xiaomi’s internal testing, the phone can deliver around 1.43 days of mixed usage while using the larger inner screen.
Charging support includes:
- 67W wired HyperCharge
- 50W wireless HyperCharge
The large battery is one of the major highlights, especially for a slim foldable smartphone.
HyperOS 4 and Android 17
The Xiaomi 18 Fold runs HyperOS 4 based on Android 17.
It also comes with Xiaomi’s Super Xiao AI Assistant 2.0, which supports voice commands and several AI-powered functions.
The software supports file sharing with Xiaomi computers and offers a six-way split-screen mode for multitasking on the large foldable display.
Xiaomi is also introducing a new AI launcher called Inspiration Ball.
The feature is expected to arrive through an OTA software update from late September 2026.
Connectivity Features
The Xiaomi 18 Fold uses Xiaomi’s new Xingchen communication system.
A dedicated communication chip manages cellular connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, navigation and UWB.
Xiaomi claims support for international roaming across more than 210 countries and regions and over 520 carrier networks.
UWB support can also be used for digital car keys with selected Xiaomi, Xiaopeng and Audi vehicles.

On paper, the Xiaomi 18 Fold offers a bigger battery, faster charging and a more flexible camera system.
The dedicated telephoto camera is also useful for users who regularly shoot portraits or zoom photos.
Samsung, however, has one major advantage for Indian buyers. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is officially available in India and comes with local warranty, service support and easier retail availability.

Should Indian Buyers Wait for Xiaomi 18 Fold?
The Xiaomi 18 Fold looks impressive on paper, especially with its 6000mAh battery, 200MP camera, 3.5x telephoto lens, 4000-nit displays and Xiaomi’s own Xring O3 processor.
However, there is currently no confirmed Xiaomi 18 Fold India launch date or price.
Buying an imported version may also mean limited warranty support and possible differences in network or software compatibility.
If you want a foldable phone that is officially available in India right now, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 remains one of the main alternatives.
