Intex and Spice Mobiles have tied up with Mozilla to bring in an ultra affordable mobiles phone in the Indian markets. Mozilla had in fact unveiled the $25 mobile at MWC in Feb. These handsets will be powered by Firefox OS and will be priced at under Rs. 3000.

This is getting more interesting, a smartphone running on Firefox OS for a price of a feature phone, under Rs. 3K. Mozilla is a known company, they are maker of Firefox browser.

ZTE had launched a Firefox powered handset that was priced at approx Rs. 8,950 though that failed to grab much attention. These handsets will be using a different OS that itself will be competing with Windows and Android platforms.

The handset name and specifications have not yet been revealed but don’t expect it to come loaded with high end features. Spice and Intex will soon launch the Firefox OS powered smartphones that will actually compete with feature phones. Those looking to buy a low cost phone might as well get attracted to this ultra affordable phone. Stay tuned for more.
