The iQOO 16 has made its first official appearance at India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026 in New Delhi. Instead of waiting for a separate smartphone launch, iQOO used the event to confirm its next flagship for India.
The upcoming phone will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, built on an advanced 2nm process. It will also be the first iQOO handset to come with OriginOS 7 preinstalled. Here’s what has been announced so far, and what is still a mystery.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6: What Changes?
The iQOO 16 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. This is the phone’s main processor, handling gaming, apps, camera processing and AI.
The big change is a 2nm manufacturing process, compared with the 3nm process used for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. A newer manufacturing process can help improve performance and reduce power consumption, although actual battery life and gaming results will only be clear after testing.
The earlier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powers the iQOO 15. iQOO says its upcoming chip will offer major improvements in both speed and efficiency.
New Hexagon NPU for On-Device AI
The processor also includes Qualcomm’s next-generation Hexagon NPU. An NPU is a dedicated part of the chipset designed to handle AI tasks.
On-device AI can help with features such as image enhancement, translations and smart suggestions without always depending on cloud processing. iQOO has mentioned improved AI, imaging and connectivity, but has not yet shared the full list of AI features coming to the phone.
OriginOS 7 Will Come Preinstalled
The iQOO 16 will be the first iQOO smartphone to ship with OriginOS 7 already installed. That means buyers will get the latest version from day one rather than waiting for a major software update.
OriginOS is the Android-based interface used by vivo and iQOO devices. iQOO says the new version focuses on a smoother interface, practical intelligent features and easier everyday use. The exact software features and update promise for the iQOO 16 are still to be detailed.
iQOO 16 India Launch Date
The India launch is officially confirmed following the announcement at India Mobile Congress 2026 on October 9. However, iQOO has not shared a launch date or sale schedule yet.
More details about availability are expected closer to the official unveiling. Meanwhile, you can check iQOO 16 listings on Amazon India.

The iQOO 16 India price is not available yet. Since the company is positioning it as a premium flagship, it is likely to compete in the high-end smartphone segment. The actual pricing remains unknown.

iQOO and Qualcomm Continue Their Partnership
iQOO has worked closely with Qualcomm on several high-performance phones and has often been quick to adopt its flagship processors in India.
At the IMC announcement, iQOO CEO Nipun Marya spoke about the brand’s focus on bringing new technology to consumers. He said the company was proud to bring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 to India with the iQOO 16 as the flagship range moves into its next phase.
Flagship Snapdragon chips are also finding their way into tablets. For example, the OnePlus Pad 4 comes with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
