Memory and Storage

There is 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM. Users can use micro SD card of up to 200GB. OTG is supported – you can connect external pen drives. On the first boot you will get around 22 GB free internal storage space and around 2.5GB free RAM.

Performance

This handset is using MediaTek MT6797 Helio X20 1.8GHz Deca core processor i.e. 10 cores. There is 2x cortex A72 @ 1.8GHz, 4x Cortex A53 @ 1.39GHz and 4x Cortex A53 cores @ 1.39GHz. Unfortunately the X20 is not really that powerful. It cannot play 4K videos. Handset heats up but battery temp is under control max battery temp I encountered was 42 degrees.

Hyve Pryme Battery Performance (time / battery % drop / estimated battery temperature)

  • Running Benchmark app – 12 minutes / 5% / 37 degrees
  • Asphalt 8 + MC5 game play – 22 minutes / 8% / 42 degrees
  • FHD video playback with full brightness (WiFi /4G on) – 21 minutes / 5% / 38 degrees.

It took me 2 hours 30 minutes to charge the handset from 1% to 100% using wall charger (using USB Type C data cable).

Verdict

The Hyve Pryme is Deca Core but benchmarks are not that impressive. However when it comes to gaming the handset can play many high end games. Camera quality is average, battery life is decent. For Rs. 17,999 this handset is way too pricey.
