COROS DURA 2 SOLAR is a new GPS bike computer with a 3.5-inch touchscreen, solar charging and a lightweight carbon-fibre design. COROS claims up to 120 hours of GPS use before counting solar charging. The device also brings detailed offline maps, voice controls and support for multiple cycling sensors. Its US price starts at $499, while India pricing has not been announced.

Price and Availability

The $499 US price is for the computer without a mount. COROS also lists a package with its Aluminium Standard Mount. Indian pricing, local availability and warranty details are not confirmed yet.

COROS says orders open on November 3. The announcement does not specify an order-opening time or timezone.

3.5-inch Display and Lightweight Design

The DURA 2 SOLAR has a 3.5-inch Memory-in-Pixel touchscreen with an anti-glare surface. This type of display is intended to keep ride data readable outdoors without the power demand of a bright conventional screen. COROS says the screen is 30% larger and has 17% higher pixel density than the first DURA.

The unit weighs 99g and uses a carbon-fibre backplate with an aluminium-alloy bezel. Its quoted 5.7mm measurement refers to the upper profile, not the full device thickness. The company also lists IP67 water and dust resistance.

Battery Life and Solar Charging

COROS rates battery life at 120 hours in All Systems GPS mode and 70 hours in dual-frequency GPS mode. These are company figures before solar charging, rather than results from an independent battery test. Actual endurance will depend on settings and conditions.

In strong direct sunlight, COROS says one hour of solar charging can add up to two hours of ride time. That is a best-case claim for sunny conditions, not a promise of unlimited battery life. Riders should still plan charging for long trips, especially in shaded routes or cloudy weather.

The solar panel also works as a haptic control surface. Along with touch and voice controls, this gives riders more than one way to operate the computer.

Maps, Voice Controls and Connected Sensors

The device runs on an Ambiq Apollo 510 processor. Maps include street and trail names, points of interest, offline rerouting and turn-by-turn guidance. Climb detection can identify climbs even without a preloaded route. Routes can be created in the COROS app or synced from supported services such as Strava and Komoot.

A microphone and speaker add voice commands for tasks such as starting or ending a ride and rerouting. Spoken turn alerts are also supported. These features could reduce screen interaction, though riders should use them only when safe.

The DURA 2 SOLAR supports up to 15 simultaneous Bluetooth and ANT+ connections. Compatible accessories include heart-rate monitors, power meters, cycling radar and tyre-pressure sensors. COROS also lists support for Shimano, SRAM AXS and Campagnolo electronic drivetrains.

Training features include FTP testing, cycling VO2 max, power zones, structured workouts and training-load tracking. Ride data can sync with services including Strava and TrainingPeaks. Crash detection and safety alerts are also listed, but these should not be treated as a replacement for normal riding precautions.

For cyclists looking for a large navigation screen without a heavy handlebar unit, the DURA 2 SOLAR is an interesting option. India price and official local availability remain the main details to wait for before making a buying decision.
