Apple Mac Mini Gets M6 Chip: Full India Pricing and Specifications

Apple has refreshed its smallest desktop with the new Mac mini M6, and the timing catches almost nobody off guard since the outgoing M4 model was overdue for an update. The new lineup brings two chip options and a faster Neural Engine.

There is also Wi-Fi 7 and a starting price that Indian buyers will want to study closely before hitting pre-order.

Pre-orders opened on 25 August 2026 through Apple’s own online store, with the first units reaching Indian doorsteps from 22 September 2026. Two chips headline the launch, the all-new M6 and the higher-tier M5 Pro, each aimed at a different kind of buyer.

Mac Mini M6 Price in India and Release Date

The base Mac mini with the M6 chip starts at ₹99,900 for the 16GB unified memory and 256GB storage configuration. Step up to 16GB memory with 512GB storage and the price moves to ₹1,23,900, while the 24GB memory and 512GB storage variant is priced at ₹1,47,900.

The Mac mini with M5 Pro starts higher, at ₹2,09,900, and comes with 24GB unified memory and 512GB storage as standard. Students, teachers and parents buying for education use get a discount, with the M6 model dropping to roughly ₹88,900 and the M5 Pro version to about ₹1,97,900.

Deliveries begin on 22 September 2026, and Apple has confirmed availability across more than 30 countries including India from that date.

Mac Mini M6 Specifications: What Has Actually Changed

The M6 chip is Apple’s first product built on a 2nm manufacturing process, a technique that packs more transistors into the same physical space and typically brings better performance per watt.

It carries a 12-core CPU made up of 2 super cores, 4 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores, alongside a 12-core GPU.

Every core in that GPU now includes a Neural Accelerator, Apple’s term for dedicated hardware that speeds up AI workloads like image editing filters or running language models directly on the device.

The chip also gets hardware-accelerated ray tracing, a rendering technique that simulates how light bounces around a scene for more realistic graphics.

Apple pairs the M6 with a Dual 16-core Neural Engine and quotes memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s on the higher-memory configuration, meaning data moves between the chip and memory faster than before.

The company claims up to 4.8 times faster AI performance than the outgoing M4 chip. It also cites up to 13.5 times faster large language model prompt processing compared with the original M1 Mac mini.

Mac Mini M5 Pro: The Powerful Sibling

Buyers who edit video, compile code or run demanding 3D software have a second option in the M5 Pro chip. The standard configuration ships with a 15-core CPU and 16-core GPU.

It can be upgraded to an 18-core CPU with a 20-core GPU for an additional cost at checkout.

Memory bandwidth on the M5 Pro reaches up to 307GB/s, nearly double what the M6 offers, and unified memory tops out at 64GB against the M6’s 32GB ceiling.

Apple says the chip delivers up to 4 times faster performance than the previous-generation M4 Pro for the heaviest creative and development workloads.

This model is also the only Mac mini variant with Thunderbolt 5 ports, supporting speeds of up to 120Gbps against the 40Gbps ceiling on the M6’s Thunderbolt 4 ports.

That difference matters for anyone connecting high-resolution external displays or fast external storage.

Display, Ports and Connectivity

Port placement stays familiar, with two USB-C ports and a headphone jack on the front, and Ethernet, HDMI and Thunderbolt ports on the back.

The M6 model gets three Thunderbolt 4 ports while the M5 Pro gets three Thunderbolt 5 ports, and both can be configured with 10Gb Ethernet instead of the standard 2.5Gb port.

Both chips support up to three external displays using a mix of Thunderbolt and HDMI ports, though the M5 Pro can push a single display up to 8K resolution at 60Hz or 4K at 240Hz, well beyond what the M6 manages on its own.

Wireless connectivity is identical across both models, built around Apple’s new N1 chip, a custom silicon component handling Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread networking for smart home devices.

Wi-Fi 7 offers meaningfully faster throughput and lower latency than the Wi-Fi 6E standard used in the outgoing model.

Apple Intelligence and Siri AI on Mac Mini

Every new Mac mini ships with macOS and Apple Intelligence built in, the company’s on-device AI system that assists with writing, photo editing and quick summaries without sending most of that data to external servers.

A more conversational version of Siri, referred to as Siri AI, is planned as a beta rollout in English later this year.

Apple is positioning both chips as capable of running large AI models locally rather than relying entirely on cloud services.
